Essie Gel Couture Swatches

{Press Sample}

Essie sent me three of their new colors from the Gel Couture formula. Normally, I freaking love this formula so I jumped at the chance to swatch a few more colors. (I swatched a collection for them in August of 2016.)

I don’t know if someone I’ve forgotten how to paint my nails (not likely) but these swatches are absolutely terrible. The polish kept flooding my cuticles and I Is anyone else having this problem with these polishes??? The two creams I was sent were especially bad flooders.

I’ll be the first to admit that these are not cute swatches. I don’t know if it was me or the formula so I’d love to hear from some other people that have tried these polishes!

Essie Gel Couture Review

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Link}

Today, I have an Essie Gel Couture review for you. Essie sent me this new collection which is a 2-step system with no base coat, no lamp, and easy removal.

Whenever I see a “gel” polish line that doesn’t need a curing lamp, I’m a little skeptical. I’ve tried quite a few different lines and none of them lasted any long than normal polish.

Then, in steps Essie Gel Couture. This is a gel-like collection with a special topcoat. So far, this seems like all the rest…but wait until you see the pictures from my wear test.

Essie Haute to Trot is a beautiful bubble gum pink creme. I chose this one to wear first because I love pink and knew I needed to do a wear test with these.

With regular polish, I usually need to change after 48 hours or else I can’t be seen in public. I use my hands way too much and polish chips on me quite quickly. Good thing I like painting my nails because to keep them looking gorgeous, they really need to be done every day.essie-haute-to-trot-swatch

Here is a pic of my nails after 4 whole days of wear. I taught dog training classes (puppy teeth are brutal on nail polish), went to a Doctor Who convention, did the dishes, and cleaned. All while wearing this polish.

After 4 days, it looks THE SAME AS IT DID ON DAY ONE. essie-gel-couture-review

This formula skyrocketed Essie up to my favorite list. I will absolutely be adding more Essie Gel Couture colors to my collection. In the meantime….let’s take a look at the other colors Essie sent me.

Essie Rock the Runway is a classic red creme.

The other fabulus thing about this line is it has my favorite kind of brush. I get the best application with a flat, tapered brush. When I use a brush like this, I have little to no cleanup to do! Hooray!essie-gel-couture-reviews

Essie On the List is a lovely coral creme.

Essie Surrounded by Studs is a deep, deep blue. I thought it was a creme, but when I saw it in the sunlight, it almost has a metallic sheen to it.

Essie Drop the Gown is a burgandy creme.

Essie Zip Me Up is one of my favorites. Pearlescent finish seems to be really trendy right now because it is also in a recent OPI and China Glaze collection. This is the green version. :)

Essie Gala-Vanting is a deep oxblood creme.

Essie Spool Me Over is a light coral, almost nude color.

Essie Pearls of Wisdom is a metallic finish that has some brown tones but is also red. It’s really quite a lovely and interesting color.

Essie Touch Up is a light lilac creme.

I’m so happy that Essie sent this collection my way. These are going to be polishes that I reach for all the time. Have you had a chance to try this formula yet?

Gradient with Leopard Print Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I didn’t mean for this mani to look so much like leopard print. The design in the plate wasn’t supposed to be leopard print, but once it’s on the nails, that’s what it looks like! I started with two coats of Essie No Baggage Please which is a super light pink. Then, I used a makeup sponge to gradient Essie The Girls Are Out on to the tips. Finally, I used Mundo de Unas Taupe and a design from Pueen plate 81 to stamp the design.

I hope you enjoyed my accidental leopard print nail art! I know it was fun to wear, that’s for sure! Plus, these Essie’s didn’t see the light of day at all in 2014. According to my spreadsheet, I hadn’t used either of them since the middle of 2013!! Poor, neglected polishes!!

Essie Trophy Wife and Essie Strut Your Stuff Swatches

While I was at Target, I kept seeing these two Essie polishes calling out to me. I was hesitant to get them because they were full price and Target has a ton of clearance polish right now, so I wasn’t sure I could justify it. But then they started calling louder and louder and louder! So finally I relented and decided to adopt them.

First, I have Essie Trophy Wife. This is a teal metallic with tiny shimmers in it. It’s crazy beautiful. I think teal is one of my favorite polish colors and this certainly does the color justice.

Ulta Haul Swatches!

Here are even more swatches from my shopping spree a few weeks ago. Have I ever told you that I love shopping sprees??? Is there anything better than a ton of new polish? Well, probably lots of things, but polish is up there!

Essie Beach Bum Blu is a light metallic blue. It’s a little streaky, but most metallics are. I think the color is gorgeous and perfect for summer!

Orly Neon Heat is from the Baked collection. You can see two of my other swatches from that collection here. I think the collection is gorgeous and I’m glad I picked this up at Sally’s.

Orly Tropical Pop is the other one I picked up from Sally’s from the Baked collection. They were buy one get one free, so how could I not? I wouldn’t normally get this color, but it was free and is unique to my collection so I grabbed it.

Finger Paints Surf’s Up! is a crazy beautiful blue. I think it looks like a gorgeous body of water with the sun shining on it. I can’t wait to do nail art with this.

Finger Paints Be My Baby is an amazing red shimmer. These two are actually my first Finger Paints and I’m quite impressed. I think the blue and the red look gorgeous together so I’ll be doing some nail art with both of them soon.

Put a Bow on it!

It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for a tri-polish mani! This will be the last one in April using the pink, yellow, and blue prompt. I started with two coats of Color Club Miss Bliss and then used my small dotting tool to put on Essie Lots of Lux. Finally, I used some of my Shany fimo cane nail art to apply the bows. I found those bows on Amazon here. I know technically, they’re not polish but I thought I could sneak one through for the last week in April. :D

It’s Not Old, It’s Vintage

I’ve been seeing a lot of stamping with gold polish lately and I’ve been loving the vintage nail art look of it. I decided to finally do it myself! I started with two coats of Essie No Baggage Please. Then I used Pueen Plate 73 and Orly Luxe to stamp the design on. Finally, I added a little more pizazz with the pink rhinestones. In the end, I think I should have stopped before the rhinestones, but oh well!

Did you know? You can click the photos to enlarge!

What do you think? Leave me a note in the comments! :D

In other news, I’m reading “The Rent Collector” by Cameron Wright and it’s really good so far! My sister actually met the author and said he was nice, so that’s also a bonus!

Cult Cosmetics Blackbox September 2013

The Cult Cosmetics Blackbox for September 2013 is waaaaay better than the last one. I am super happy. Even though I got a dupe, I think it was well worth the money.

Mash Rhinestones Wheel. This has 12 different colored rhinestones.

OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps in Grey/Black Rattlesnake

From left to right: Essie No Baggage Please, Color Club Eternal Beauty (dupe for me), and Orly Black Pixel.

And here’s the mani I used using all supplies from Blackbox! (Except for tape and topcoat. :) )

Essie Swatches from the July 2013 Cult Cosmetics Blackbox

I received these three Essie bottles from the July 2013 Cult Cosmetics Blackbox.

The first one is Essie Avenue Maintain which is a pretty light blue creme. It could have easily been done in one coat, but this is two.

This one is Essie Bottle Service which is a neon pink. This is two coats.

Essie The Girls Are Out is a Purpley Pink with tiny little shimmers in it. I dipped my tips in a white glitter pot before I got pics of just the swatch. Oops! So, the small shimmers you see are actually the polish. Anything that is bigger is from the glitter pot.

I must say–I like all three of these colors! I was going to try and pick a favorite, but I can’t! They are all gorgeous!

Cult Cosmetics July 2013

I decided to try out the BlackBox from Cult Cosmetics. This is a brand new nail polish subscription. I think it’s as new as only 1-2 months (but don’t quote me on that). They were having a promo for I think 50% off your first box so I decided to try it out. I am very happy! I think it was a great deal. I got three full sized Essie polishes, Mash tweezers, a glitter pot, metallic studs, and nail glue.

The colors are from left to right: Essie Bottle Service, Essie The Girls Are Out, and Essie Avenue Maintain. I will remain a subscriber because I am very happy with this box.
