“Summer” Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Haaappy Friday! It’s time for another episode of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is “summer.” You know what? I freaking hate summer. I hate sunshine and long days. I’m not even being sarcastic. I’m a fall and winter girl. Fall is my jam. You know how most people feel like they’re in a better mood when it’s sunny? That’s how I feel when it’s raining. I like to curl up with a blanket, a cup of coffee, and read. Lately, all I’ve been reading is Outlander.

Lucky for me, I live in the Pacific Northwest. That means it rains here quite a bit! It’s even been raining a whole bunch this week. Hooray! Rain! My favorite!!!

Before you start scrolling, I need to give you a warning…. I cut my nails down. :( I terribly regret it. It seemed like a good idea at the time. As soon as I was done, I realized I’d made a horrible mistake. I will be growing them out again!

This “summer” mani starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Grease Lightening. The designs are from Vivid Lacquer plates and the stamping polish is Konad Black

Hot Pink Camo Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s post is for the weekly Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. I’m supposed to post on Friday…but the week got away from me so here I am today. Better late than never?

This week’s prompt is Hot Pink and my assigned nail art technique is camo. I used Trust Fund Beauty Rude Nudes as my base color. Rude Nudes was sent to me as a press sample. It has a lovely formula and is really opaque, especially for such a light polish. I’m happy to report there are no visible nail lines! Keep scrolling for plain swatches.

I used a design from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL010 and Mundo de Unas Neon Pink to create the camo design.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Comics!

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art is part of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is comics/cartoons. I went with a little abstract interpretation using Vivid Lacquer Plate VL011. I used Morgan Taylor All White Now as the base for my comics nail art. Then, I used three different Konad colors – black, blue, and red!

What do you think of my abstract interpretation of this week’s prompt?

Enchanted Polish September 2015 Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today I have some blue and red nail art to show you. It starts with two coats of Enchanted Polish September 2015. Then, I used Konad Red to stamp a design from Vivid Lacquer plate VL 041.

Two-Tone Blue Swirls Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s nail art starts with two coats of Mango Bunny Polish Blue Moon (which was originally sent to me as a press sample). Then, I used Mundo de Unas Iris and a design from Vivid Lacquer plate VL 041 to create this look.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Black and White

{Purchased by Me}

Today’s nail art is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week, the theme is Black and white. My assigned nail art technique is stamping. Hooray! I love the look of black and white stamped nail art! I started with two coats of Morgan Taylor All White Now. The paisley designs are from Vivid Lacquer plate VL037 and I stamped with Mundo de Unas black.

I ended up hating the above mani, so I did another stamped black and white mani! This one is Enchanted Polish October 2015 and used the new Bundle Monster plate inspired by blogger Sloteazy.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas – Geeks

{Purchased By Me}

Welcome to week 3 of the epic Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week the prompt is “Geeks”. I started with two coats of Cupcake Polish Leaf Me Alone.  I used Mundo de Unas Forest to stamp these geeky designs from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL026.

Negative Space Nail Art – Lace Design Inspired by Carmex

{Purchased by Me}

Earlier this month, I was sent a few Carmex lip balms to review. I loved the packaging so much that I wanted to do some nail art to copy it! They didn’t ask me to do this or anything – I just couldn’t help myself! I started with two coats of OPI I’ll Take the Cake! The closest stamping design I had to the lip balm’s design was on Vivid Lacquer Plate VL028. I used Mundo de Unas Black for stamping.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas – Hobbies

{Purchased By Me}

This mani is for the first prompt in the New Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week’s prompt is “Hobbies”. I have four main hobbies and I wanted each of them to be represented: Reading, Dog Training, Watching Doctor Who, and doing my nails! Therefore, I did a skittle mani. :) To keep it looking somewhat streamlined, I did it in all black and white. The white polish is Morgan Taylor All White Now and the stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Black.

The stamping plates are:

Vivid Lacquer VL029 books

Vivid Lacquer VL027 Dogs

Vivid Lacquer VL 026 Doctor Who

Born Pretty Store BP 29

{Purchased By Me}

I’m pretty sure you’ve already guessed that I’m a huge Doctor Who fan. Today’s mani is an homage to this wonderful television show. I started with two coats of Color Club Cloud Nine. The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Blue Navy. I used two plates, each of which has a couple different Doctor Who images on them: Vivid Lacquer Plate VL026 and My Online Shop Plate jr-31.

Today is also Bad Wolf day. On July 8, 2006, “Doomsday” aired and we had to say goodbye to Rose, a beloved companion.

Stamped Watermarble

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s mani starts with three coats of Savvy Naturalista Bubblegum Mystery, which was originally sent to me as a press sample. I used a plate from Vivid Lacquer and Mundo de Unas Fantasy to stamp the cheater’s version of a watermarble.

Blue Flowers Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Press Sample}

Ellison’s Organics sent me A Wish Your Heart Makes and I couldn’t help but want to do nail art on top! I picked the flowers design from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL008 and Mundo de Unas Sky Blue to create this look.

You’ve heard me say this a lot, but I just love two-tone stamping manicures.

I’m pretty excited for tomorrow! I organized another get-together of local polish addicts. I’m meeting some very awesome people this way and making some amazing IRL friends. But now….I have to decide how to paint my nails for tomorrow! Ahh! Pressure!

Pink and Girly Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

For this mani, I started with three coats of OPI Suzi Shops & Island Hops, which is part of the 2015 Hawaii Collection. I was a little disappointed that I needed three coats for full coverage. That is not typical of OPI and I even think this is the first time I’ve encountered a three-coater. Then, I used a design from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL008 and Mundo de Unas Bones to stamp the design.

This mani is very simple and the design was barely noticeable from far away. I like the subtle girlishness of it. The colors are also great for spring manicures. If you want to add a little more pizazz to this mani, you could place small rhinestones where the lines intersect. Damn. I totally should have done that!!

Enchanted Polish Fairy Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

Hi! I hope you’re doing super awesome today. Today’s mani starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Black Out Which I topped with Enchanted Polish Fairy. After it dried, I used Mundo de Unas Black to stamp a leafy design from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL 036.

Leadlight Nail Art Using China Glaze Electric Lights Collection

{Press Sample}

As I was swatching the China Glaze Electric Lights Collection, I kept thinking they would be pretty cool to use in a leadlight style manicure! For this nail art, I used China Glaze White on White, Red-Y to Rave, Daisy Know My Name, Glow with the Flow, and DJ Blue My Mind. All but White on White are from the Electric Lights Collection. The stamp design is from Vivid Lacquer plate VL036 and the stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Black.

Now who’s ready for some adult coloring??!! :)

I think this mani is pretty darn fun, if I don’t say so myself.  I liked leadlighting with these neons. They were opaque enough where I didn’t have to go back and re-do sections and you can tell the colors apart. (IMO, some jellies are so sheer that you can’t even tell what color it is sometimes!)

I need your opinion! I want to start putting my new branding on my photos. I’ve named the blonde girl Betty – hopefully for obvious reasons! Do you prefer the full-body or just the head for branding my pictures? I can’t decide! Help!!

I Love Dogs Nail Art!!

{Purchased By Me}

In case you didn’t already know this, I must confess that I’m a crazy dog lady. There is also a rogue dog hair in pretty much every pic I’ve ever posted. Therefore, it is high time I did some dog themed nail art! This dogs nail art starts with three coats of Milani Capri. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Black and Vivid Lacquer Plate VL027 to create the design.

I actually wore this mani to one of the dog training classes I teach because I’m super fun like that. Except nobody noticed!! //sad face

I love how this one turned out and the stamping design form Vivid Lacquer is just perfect! The plate also has cats and birds on it if you’re not a dog person so it’s still worth checking out! :)

Geometric Nail Art

{Purchased By me}

Today’s nail art is for this week’s “geometric” prompt from the Crumpet’s 52 week pick and mix challenge. I started with three thin coats of Mango Bunny Polish Ninja Bunny. The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Mexican Pink and the design is from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL034. The pink covered up more of the Ninja Bunny than I would have liked but at least I adore pink!

Here is a plain swatch of Ninja Bunny. It’s a black jelly with small white glitters and white triangles. You can see the white triangle best stuck to the lid. LOL! I guess I can be a little messy! I think I’m going to leave it there. Just for fun.

I’m trying to figure out what sets my blog apart from others – if there is anything at all. I’m always working on trying to improve my photography and hand position. I worry that it gets boring when I do 99% stamping manicures. But that’s also what I enjoy the most and what I’m best at. So, if you have any suggestions or feedback, please let me know! I want you to keep coming here! I enjoy your company. :)

Stamped Marble Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

Today’s nail art looks a little like a watermarble, but it’s not! It’s a stamp from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL009. The base polish is Nabi Cinnamon. I have no idea where to buy Nabi! I googled it and couldn’t really figure it out! I got this at a polish swap with some local polish girls. The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Black.

Here’s a plain swatch of Nabi Cinnamon. I needed three coats for this. Application was a little tough and I had to wait for each coat to thoroughly dry so that I didn’t get too much dragging or bald spots. I would be disappointed if I had to pay for this, but for a freebie, it’s not too bad!

I hope you liked today’s stamped marble nail art!

Plaid Stamping Mani

{Purchased By Me}

Today’s mani is not one of my favorites. I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Chic which is from the Patent Gloss collection. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Velvet as my stamping polish. The design is from Vivid Lacquer plate VL015. This is the first time I have not liked a design from VL.  I think it’s a little too messy looking. (And after 10 nails, I know it’s not me.) Also, I think the squares and lines are too big.  I would have loved to double-stamp this design so it looked even more like plaid, but when I double-stamped, it just completely covered up the lavender color.  Another thing I don’t like about this mani is the color combo. I’m really just not feeling it! Good thing I stockpile acetone!!!

Lace Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Hello! I hope you’re doing awesome today! For this mani, I started with three coats of Superchic Lacquer Witches Agenda for Uberness. Then, I used Vivid Lacquer Plate VL 032 which has gorgeous lace and flower designs on it. I used Konad White as my stamping polish. I’m really happy with how this one turned out. The lines are nice and crisp. Even the fully colored in flower looks nice. There is a tiny bit of smudging near my tip on the accent nail, but I’m hoping you won’t notice…

I’m really looking forward to this next week. I only have to work one day which means I’ll have lots and lots of time to get ahead on manicures! I might even try to do another watermarble…we’ll see where the wind takes me!

Holiday Argyle Stamping

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Merry Christmas!! For this mani, I started with three coats of Pretty Serious Glitz & Glam. Pretty Serious is quickly becoming one of my favorite indie brands. Then, I used Vivid Lacquer plate 010 for its super fun argyle design. My stamping polish was Konad Red. There is just something about red and gold that screams ‘holidays’ to me. And if it’s not screaming that, it’s screaming ‘high school’ because red and gold were also my high school colors!

I wish you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas from my keyboard to yours.

This is Kirby! Lena’s in the background waiting for food to drop on the ground, and then she’ll pounce!

Christmas Sweater (?) Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

This mani is a twist on the traditional Christmas sweater – both with the colors and the pattern!! I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Plush which is from their new velvet textures collection. Then, I used a design from Vivid Lacquer plate VL 035 which is full of sweater designs. I don’t know if this counts as Christmas sweater nail art…if anything, it’s Halloween or Valentine’s Day! But here it is and you get to see it today. I stamped with Sally Hansen Rapid Red from their Insta-Dri line. I love stamping with SH Insta-Dris because they are easy to find and quite reliable in their performance.

Raindrops Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

This mani starts with two coats of Mango Bunny Polish  Midnight Bunny, which I originally received as a press sample. Then, I used Konad White to stamp this raindrops design from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL006. I love the rain, which is one of the many reasons why I love living in the Pacific North West.

I like how I can see the star glitters from Midnight Bunny poking through!!! It’s like it’s raining on a starry night. Have you ever seen a rainstorm happen when it’s still sunny? (Yes, that happens!) Well, this must be the night version of it!

Snowy Sweater Nail Art

{Affiliate Links}

It’s still freezing here so I’ve been wishing I had some nice warm sweaters I could wear. But I want ones that are super girly so that they fit my style! Since I don’t own anything like that, I can at least do girly sweater nail art, right?! The only problem is now  I really want a sweater that looks like this! Haha!!

I started with three coats of Glitter Daze That’s So Fetch from her Mean Girls collection. I won it in a giveaway from the Digital Dozen! This is a gorgeous light pink holo. I did three coats because I wanted to ensure my visible nail line was all covered up.

Once dry (I used Simply Swift top coat from myblisskiss.com to speed things along), I used Vivid Lacquer plate VL035 which has a lovely snowflake sweater design on it. I used Konad white to stamp. I love how it turned out!

Colorful Butterfly Wings Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art was a bit of an experiment in my coloring skills. I wanted to use the Butterfly Wings image from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL004 but I wanted the blank spots to be filled in. So whilst watching Doctor Who, I decided to do a little polish color to make some colorful butterfly wings nail art!

I started with two coats of Essence Pearls are a Girl’s Best Friend which is from the Aquatix Collection. Then, I used Konad Black to stamp the design from the plate. Then, I used different colors from the Aquatix collection to fill in the spaces and dot in the empty spaces as well. I mostly like how this turned out. Even though I was very careful, the polish still bled over the black a little. The only way to really prevent this is to be even more careful (not sure that was possible) or to make a decal instead of doing it straight on the nail.
