Mirenesse Glamm Box March 2013 ans Beauty Dips – Lips

I decided to splurge and try one box of Mirenesse Glamm Box.  Mirenesse is a company in Italy, I believe. I discovered them through Ipsy (aka MyGlam) a few months ago.

First. it wasn’t a box at all! It was a little envelope. At first I was a little disappointed, but then I realized that I got three full size products for a killer price!

First, velvet eyeshadow in Greek Goddess. The packaging is very pretty. It’s a black and an aqua shadow.

The color payoff was very good.

However…the pretty sparkles are only on the top! Once you use the first layer of the shadow, no more pretty silver. I think the shadows are pretty, anyway, but it would have been a very nice touch to  have the silver notes all the way through the tin.

Eyeshadow “mascara”. This is basically a tinted eyebrow gel. I’ve been having troubles keeping my eyebrows in place lately, so I’m excited to try this one.

Eye primer. I don’t really use eye primer and haven’t every really needed it. But, I’ll use this and give it the good ol’ college try to see if I like it. The only thing I don’t like is that it reeks to high heaven when you open the tube.

And that’s it! It’s an interesting concept since it is all full-size products.

What do you think? Is it worth it?

Next up, the Beauty Dips box in “Lips”. This is like a mystery box, but you get to choose what category you want. I picked the lips category.

This had two full-size products. A gorgeous lip gloss that I can’t find a name on. And, a double-ended lip and eye liner. The lip liner is very light and does not seem to coordinate well with the lip gloss. But, I have others I can use it with.

April 2013 Julep Maven Box Classic With a Twist

Julep’s Classic with a Twist April 2013 Maven Box is awesome…as usual! It came with two polishes – Avery (neon pink creme) and Jackie (red creme). It also had their new Might Nail and Cuticle Serum. I love their cuticle products and I’m sure I’ll love this one. It says to apply twice daily for two weeks and then once daily after that for strong nails. I can’t wait to try it!

StarlooksStarbox March 2013

Another fabulous set of products from Starlooks. I am seriously loving this company!

This month, we received three FULL Size items and one trial size item. WHAT? all that for $16? Yeppers!
Here we go.

Eyeshadow in “Dissarry”. Retail price $12. The color payoff isn’t that great when I swatched it, but that is for the best since I wouldn’t wear a purple this dark, anyway! Ill have fun experimenting with it, though!

Lengthening mascara. Retail Price $11. Who isn’t always on the lookout for a new mascara? The packaging for this guy is really cool. It feels like carbonite or something. It’s really heavy. In a good way!

Lipstick in “Flutter”. Retail price $11. This is an orangey lipstick that I wouldn’t have ever bought for myself. And…that is the whole point of these boxes! Trying new things! Plus, orange lips are all the rage for Spring, so I’ll be wearing this guy tomorrow!

Bonus item: Lip Sugar! This is a vanilla scented exfoliating scrub for lips. The product hasn’t been released yet in their collection. It seems like they’re testing it out first. I’m excited to try! It smells divine!

Another happy Starlooks customer!

March 2013 Ipsy MyGlam Glam Bag

Ipsy does it again! I’m totally in love with their service. This month’s Glam Bag has awesome products. For only $10!

First, we got a GlamRX case that is magnetic on the bottom. Perfect for storing the two Yaby eyeshadows we received in addition to some eyeshadows received in previous bags! :)

A pack of LA Fresh Makeup Remover Wipes. This is a must in any girl’s emergency makeup kit! I’m very happy to have received these.

Finally, we got Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist. Perfect timing since the warm summer days are just around the corner!

March 2013 Julep Maven Box: Classic with a Twist

This month’s Julep Maven box theme was pastels. I almost skipped because I only liked one of the colors in each of the boxes. But, I wanted the hand creme! :) So, I went with the Classic with a Twist box which had a beautiful light violet color that is pearlescent. The other color is a gray. I’m “meh” on grays.

A nice surprise is that they included a free strawberry mint lip balm. Yummy!

February 2013 Starlooks Starbox

Starbox is the only makeup subscription service (that I know of) that puts exclusively cosmetics items in their boxes…and I love it!

Here’s the February 2013 box:

First, Fluid Blush in “barbie”. This blush is quite thick and a little goes a long way!

This swatch used a teeny tiny itty bitty drop and it went all over my hand. This tube will last me forever!

Lip Liner in Tipsy. This is a very pinkish coral that looks very nice and innocent on the lips (see below).

Eyeliner in Princess Diaries. This is very bright pink. I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to use a pink eyeliner yet. :)

Lip Gloss in Pink Oasis. In the bottle and in the pics it looks quite purple. but the color on my lips is much more pink and I love it!

Lip liner with the gloss.

As always, I’m quite happy with Starlooks!

Ipsy MyGlam Bag February 2013

As usual, the Ipsy MyGlam bag is a great value this month. I won’t say it’s my favorite month ever, but they did a great job.
Here’s what we got:

Coastel Scents Mini Shadows. These are about the size of my ring fingernail. The colors are pretty! They aren’t ones I’d normally try but that’s the whole point of these makeup subscriptions, right?

Lash card mascara shields. Do people really have that hard of a time applying mascara?? I have never had an issue! I kinda think this is a ridiculous product!

Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer. I’m always on a quest to find the next best primer!

Pop Mascara. I have never heard of this brand so I’m excited to try something new.

Mica Gel Eyeliner. This is the product I’m most excited about. I love a new eyeliner!

Julep Valentine’s Day Mystery Box

Today, I received the Julep Valentine’s Day Mystery Box. I received on lip gloss (dupe for me) and 5 polishes (two new, three dupes).
The gloss was Camellia. The polishes are Emma, Maya, Charlotte (dupes), and Rose and Evangeline (new).
Overall, I’m ok with the box since the two new colors I got were worth the price of the box itself. I think I should probably stop buying Julep’s Mystery boxes only because I usually do add-ons or upgrades for my Maven boxes which means I already own most of their colors!

From left to right: Rose, Maya, Charlotte, Evangeline, Maya

I won’t be swatching the gloss because its new and I want to give it away. :) But, it’s a sheer light pink.
Thanks for stopping by!

Julep Maven Box February 2013

This month, I splurged and upgraded to the whole collection. I just couldn’t pick between the different maven profiles! So I guess that means I needed them all. :P

I received 12 colors, 2 of whom were dupes. I also received the new Oxgen Nail Treatment and the Freedom Polymer Topcoat. All of this came in a gorgeous jewelry box. They also included a surprise eyelash curler and two chocolate hearts.

This is the surprise eyelash curler Julep included.  It looks like it will be a great one for travel!

Oxygen Nail Treatment. Claims to increase nail strength and reduce peeling. It says to apply 1-2 times per week and for best results to not use with any polish. (Omg! Will I be able to go bare??)

Freedom Polymer Top Coat. Claims to go on like a polish and perform like a gel. Instructions say to apply one coat over dry polish. So does that mean I should apply it after Seche Vite or instead of? I guess I’ll have to experiment! It says to cure under a 60-watt bulb for two minutes.

From Left to Right (for all pics)
Oscar (Duplicate. This was in last year’s maven boxes), Laura (green/gray creme), Marion (Blue shimmer)

Julianne (Creme blue/gray), Joan (Purpler shimmer), Helen (Creme purple)

Ellie (Duplicate from last box. Metallic formula, which I am not impressed with), Ginger (Purple/Gray Shimmer), Sally (Creme Yellow)

Ingrid (Creme orange), Claudette (Creme red), Rebel (Silver Shimmer)

Obviously, you can look forward to many swatches in the days to come!

January 2013 Starlooks Starbox

Double post day!

I am very pleased with this month’s Starlooks Starbox. I’ve only been a subscriber for a few months now and I’m already loving it. This is different from other subscription services because all the products are the Starlooks brand. Also, I haven’t received any skin care items yet which is awesome. I don’t like receiving skincare samples because my skin is so sensitive that most don’t work for me.

This month, we got two eyeliners (each from a different line within the company), a blush, a brush, a bracelet, and the crystal. (They include at least one crystal every month so you can collect them.)

This bracelet is by Abby Rose Designs. I think it is very pretty and it’s awesome they included it!

The diamond line pencil I received was in the color “Fancy”. It’s a glittery light green (swatch below). It goes on very smoothly and I can’t wait to try it tomorrow!

The regular eyeliner I received was in brown. (Swatch below). This one also goes on very smoothly.

The blush compact is in the color “Cuty Peach”. At first I was nervous about the pink-ness and brightness of the blush, but you’ll see in the swatch below it is very light and natural looking. It’s going to look great on my fair skin tone!

Top: Cuty Peach
Middle: Fancy
Bottom: Brown

Lastly, we received a small brush. The bristle are very soft and it feels very high quality.

I have nothing bad to say about this month’s box! I’m excited to try everything this weekend!!

QVC New Beauty Test Tube Winter 2013

I finally bit the bullet and re-subscribed to the QVC Test Tube. It’s such an amazing service with such great products to try! This quarter’s tube is no exception.

Here’s the whole lot. Nothing to sneeze at, right?

Mally High-Shinw Gloss in Mally’s Baby. This is not my favorite brand of lip color, but I do really like the look of the gloss. This one is very rosy and natural looking and will be perfect for a lot of my favorite makeup looks. The only reason I don’t really like these Mally glosses is I find myself having to reapply incessantly.  (In other words, not long lasting at all.)

Tarte emphasEYESy Eyeliner  in purple. This color looks gorgeous. I can’t wait to try it tomorrow morning!

Ole Henrickson Truth Creme. This is your basic face cream. They have included this brand a number of times. I’m not super impressed by it and will stick with spending money on Cetaphil, but it’s perfect as a backup or for traveling!

Nick Chavez Conditioner. I recently gave up the ghost and trying to get Wen to work for me, so I’m super excited to try this conditioner! Plus, it smells aweeeesome. If the scent lasts for a few hours, I won’t even need perfume!

Philosophy Miracle Worker cleanser and mask. This is one of my favorite brands of all time. All of their stuff really seems to do what it says on the bottle. I have been breaking out a little lately and this one looks to promise clearer skin! Woohoo!

Julep Nail Color in Alicia.  The picture doesn’t do it justice. This is more of a peachy color than the picture shows. This is a dupe for me so I will stash it away and some lucky girl will receive it as a gift. :)

Bliss blood orange hand cream. Another brand that I absolutely love! As expected, this smells great. Almost like you just peeled a fresh orange and didn’t wash your hands!

Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm. I can always use more eye cream!

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. This is just the classic foil packet of sample. Test Tube will typically throw some of these in.

And, of course, the magazine. Which I actually hate! Why? Because it has a huge focus on cosmetic surgery! What?! I know! You’re surprised, too! You’d think a company that sounds like they promote natural beauty with the name ‘New Beauty’ that they would promote…natural beauty. Sometimes I’ll flip through this to look at the pictures but I typically just throw it in the recycling because it’s all about plastic surgery. I haven’t even cracked this quarter’s issue, but I guarantee you that cover story on “Anti-Aging Secrets” is about botox, face-lifts, and skin tucks. No thanks!

Overall, I love Test Tube. Look at all the fun products I got today!!

Ipsy MyGlam Bag January 2013

Ipsy (formerly known as My Glam) is far and above my favorite subscription service. I always have at least one item I’m thrilled to try and I always, always, always feel like I got my money’s worth.

In this month’s bag, I’m really excited about everything!
Here we go!

Here’s a shot of everything. This month’s actual bag was a plain black one. I like that it’s bigger than the ones we’ve received in the past.

Nailtini Frappe. This looks like it will be an off-white, lightish pink guy. I can’t wait to swatch it for you!

Big Sexy Hair Hairspray. This is a great size for a good, multi-week trial. They’re not giving you wussy samples over at Ipsy!

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter.  I can’t even describe how wonderful this smells. Think orange creamsicle!

Josie Maran Argan Oil for hair. If I had to rank them, this is the item I’m least excited about. The only reason is that I have like 12 hair oil samples and I’ll never be able to use them up!

SoHo London Concealor Brush. Who doesn’t need more brushes?! Ipsy received some flack because they recently had another SoHo London brush and I guess you can get this brand at Wal-Mart and other drug stores. But guess what? That one is one of my favorite go-to brushes. So, basically they saved me a trip to the store. Thanks, Ipsy! :)

Resolutions Cravebox January 2013

I was selected to receive the January 2013 Resolutions Cravebox! You can find out more at Cravebox.com.
This looks like it will be a fun one. Lots of snacks!

Please pardon my ugly kitchen counter. :)

There were a couple sodas in the box, some Pantene Mousse, Mary Kay eye cream, and a lot of snack bars! As always, Cravebox also included a lot of coupons for included and related products.

Julep Maven January 2013 Bombshell

Second post for today! I couldn’t resist because…I just got my January 2013 Julep Maven Box in the mail! I was a little sad that all the colors were neons this month, but I am really happy with the box I chose. I’m normally the American Beauty profile, but I changed to Bombshell this month.

Here’s a shot of the entire box contents.

There were three neon twist bands included as a surprise. These little guys are cropping up in almost every monthly beauty subscription box!

Two polishes: One is Ava and she is a gorgeous light pink with shimmer. The second is Bette who is a neon purple. It reminds me a lot of Andrea’s Choice Circus Tightrope so maybe I’ll have to swatch those two next to each other.

The lids each came with a swatch sticker on top.

Julep has redesigned their tops so you can pop it off and swatch the lid of the polish. I think it’s a really neat idea! A lot of the time, you can’t really tell what a polish looks like just by looking at the bottle. They can really dry differently!

We also received a hand and cuticle stick.  AS with all their hand-care products, it smells divine. I will probably pop this into my purse because it’s a lot less messy than their cuticle oil (which I also love).

Lastly, we got a sheet of the swatch stickers. There are 20 stickers on this sheet so I can make swatches for 20 different polishes. Should I just pick my favorites? Or save it for the weird ones? I don’t know!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Julep New Year’s Mystery Box

The mailman brought me my Christmas present one day early. :) Today, I got the Julep New Year’s Mystery Box!

As always, I got my money’s worth but I won’t say it’s the best one I’ve ever received. I got a lot of polishes, but most were dupes. I guess that’s  the problem with being a long-time maven who buys lots of add-ons. :)

Everything was inside their tote bag:

Here is a shot of the whole lot (minus the tote). As you can see, the value is worth way more than the $21 I paid for it.

A few samples of their remover pads, hand scrub, and hand lotion.

I LOVE their hand-brightening lotion. This stuff is amazing and I’m very pleased that I received a second full sized tube. (I received another one in a past mystery box and I fell in love.)

I received 5 polishes. Three of them were dupes for me so I just added them to the Christmas present for my sister-in-law. What a lucky girl! ;)

Chelsea: A purple glitter. This is the third bottle of Chelsea I’ve received. Good thing she’s such a pretty girl!

Boris & Nicole. Another dupe. I received my fist bottle in the Halloween Maven boxes.

Mischa. Another dupe. This was in one of the summer Maven boxes. It’s a really pretty orange/red shimmer.

The first new polish: Sienna. This was in a previous Maven box; just not one I personally received. She looks like a metallic/shimmer neutral. I’d call it beige or possible super light brown. She looks pretty!

Lastly, as promised, Julep included a never-before-seen glitter. They forgot to name her!!! It looks gorgeous, though. Despite the lack of a name. Maybe they’re planning a contest or something?

And last, but not least, I received a glitter pot with easy to follow instructions. I’ve really been into glitter lately so this will be fun!

Merry Christmas, everyone!
