Sally Hansen Neutrals

{Press Sample}

Sally Hansen sent me a couple neutral polishes to swatch and show you! These are both from the Color Therapy line which has argan oil infused in the products to help moisturize and nourish your nails.

Sally Hansen Chai on Life is a creamy nude with peach undertones.

sally-hansen-chai-on-life sally-hansen-chai-on-life-swatch

This is Sally Hansen Make my Clay. This is a really weird color. My father is a potter so I grew up around a TON of clay. (A TON.) And while this is a pretty color-accurate polish for its namesake, clay is kind of a weird color to wear on nails. This one has green undertones. It definitely looks like clay, but I don’t really like on my nails. LOLsally-hansen-make-my-clay-swatch sally-hansen-make-my-clay

Red and Black Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Haute Springs which was sent to me as a press sample. Then, I used this stars design and some black stamping polish to create this look!

Sally Hansen Toppers!

I can’t believe I sat on these polishes for so long. They have been sitting in my untrieds for weeks and weeks and I just kept passing them over. That was clearly a huge mistake.

Sally Hansen Flash-ionista on top of a black creme. How goddamn gorgeous is this polish?! I wore it for days. I didn’t want to take it off my nails. In fact, I cried a little inside when I removed it.  Who would have thought that such a mediocre looking polish would be such a stunner??? Diamond in the rough, I tell ya. Diamond in the rough.

sally-hansen-flashionista-swatch sally-hansen-flashionista

Sally Hansen Let’s Get Digital over a black creme. When this one turned out to be a RED shift I was like WHAT IN THE WHAT? It looks blue in the bottle! I almost didn’t even get this one because I thought it would be too close to Flash-ionista. Oh man. I would have been crying in my  Cheerio’s if I’d passed this one up.sally-hansen-let's-get-digital-swatch sally-hansen-let's-get-digital

These to are MUST HAVE. You can all obsess over indie polish toppers or whatever but we simply can’t ignore the gorgeousness that Sally Hansen has put in front of us with these polishes.

Now go to the store and get your own bottles cuz I ain’t sharin’.

Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab Review

{Press Sample}

Sally Hansen sent me Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab to review for you! This is an intense serum meant to be worn over night on your nails and cuticles. Proper moisture is critical to nail health – especially if you’re trying to grow them out. (Water does not actually moisturize your nails. I’m talking about nail oil as a moisturizer.)

What I like about this serum is that it’s thicker than a regular oil. That means it’s not dripping everywhere when I put it on. It stays on the spot in. I can feel it working as it relieves my dry cuticles – especially this time of year when it’s so cold.sally-hansen-moisture-rehab-review

I’ve been keeping the bottle on my nightstand and applying it all over my tips before sleeping. It soaks in quickly so I don’t get oil on my sheets. Hooray!sally-hansen-cuticle-care

I would recommend picking up Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab next time you’re in your drugstore’s polish aisle. It’s very affordable and should be available anywhere Sally Hansen is sold.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy Swatches

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Sally Hansen Color Therapy is a new formula of polish recently created by Sally Hansen. I published the press release for it when I got word back in November. You can read the details here. Sally Hansen sent me 6 colors from their new collection as well as the Color Therapy top coat.

Sally Hansen Ja-Cozy is a solid, blue creme.

Sally Hansen Bamboost is a creamy army green.sally-hansen-bamboost-swatch sally-hansen-bamboost

Sally Hansen Robes and Rose is a shimmery pink and is one of my favorites in the collection. This is totally my color!

sally-hansen-robes-and-rose-swatch sally-hansen-robes-and-rose

Sally Hansen Mauve Mantra is a light pink with gold iridescent shimmer. This is another one of my favorite colors! sally-hansen-mauve-mantra-swatch sally-hansen-mauve-mantra

Sally Hansen Unwine’d is an oxblood creme.

sally-hansen-unwine'd sally-hansen-unwine'd-swatch

Sally Hansen Therapewter is a green-tinted silver metallic polish.sally-hansen-therapewter-swatch sally-hansen-therapewter

The wear time on these is comparable to other Sally Hansen polishes. The top coat took a little longer than my usual to dry, but that is to be expected since my usual is Seche Vite.

You’re supposed to wear these without a basecoat, per the instructions on the back. I couldn’t bring myself to do that with the darker colors. I did go commando with the light colors. I did not notice a difference in wear time with or without topcoat.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy should be available in retail stores nationwide. You can also find it on Amazon, here.

Random Swatches!

{Purchased by Me}

I’ve been compiling a random collection of swatches. None of them really warranted their own full post, but now that I have four, I figured you might like to see them. :)

Butter London Slapper – This is an old photo! Back when I was wearing my midi ring. I stopped wearing it because the center “diamond” fell out. :( :(

Venique Bursting from the Seams. This one kind of has a satin finish even though I did use topcoat. I like the look!venique-bursting-at-the-seams-swatch

Sally Hansen Mint Tint. I can’t even remember how long I’ve had this one. I think it’s been sitting in my drawer for at least a year! Oops!

sally-hansen-mint-tin-swatch sally-hansen-mint-tint

Picture Polish Douceur. I’ve had this one for years. This is the first time I wore it. I can’t believe I didn’t break out this beauty ages ago! It’s a great nude with some fun purple glitters!!!

Thanks for stopping by today. I know my postings have been less consistent. Starting my own dog training company is taking up craploads of time. I only paint my nails 5 days a week now! WHAT?! It used to be every day! But I just don’t have that much time any more. (Cue sad violins here)

Seaside Nail Art Ideas

{Purchased by Me}

Good morning!! It’s Friday which means it’s time for another edition of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week’s prompt is “seaside / holidays / beach” and by “holidays,” we mean vacations. :)
I started my mani with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. Once dry, I used a makeup sponge to create a gradient with OPI The I’s Have It! Then, I used some water decals made by Pueen to add the anchors and steering wheels. Yes, I know they’re not called steering wheels. I can’t remember what they’re called on ships!!! What are the wheels called?!

Coral and White Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Friday means it’s time for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week’s challenge is “coral and white” and my assigned nail art technique is “circles.”

I started with Sally Hansen Coral Reef (original formula before they screwed it all up) and waited for it to dry. Then, I found these circle stencils in the bottom of my drawer. It’s been forever since I bought them but they are probably from Polished Vino or Twinkled T. I used Sally Hansen White On for the circles.

“Summer” Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Haaappy Friday! It’s time for another episode of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is “summer.” You know what? I freaking hate summer. I hate sunshine and long days. I’m not even being sarcastic. I’m a fall and winter girl. Fall is my jam. You know how most people feel like they’re in a better mood when it’s sunny? That’s how I feel when it’s raining. I like to curl up with a blanket, a cup of coffee, and read. Lately, all I’ve been reading is Outlander.

Lucky for me, I live in the Pacific Northwest. That means it rains here quite a bit! It’s even been raining a whole bunch this week. Hooray! Rain! My favorite!!!

Before you start scrolling, I need to give you a warning…. I cut my nails down. :( I terribly regret it. It seemed like a good idea at the time. As soon as I was done, I realized I’d made a horrible mistake. I will be growing them out again!

This “summer” mani starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Grease Lightening. The designs are from Vivid Lacquer plates and the stamping polish is Konad Black

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Green Waterfall

{Purchased by Me}{Press Samples}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art is for this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is ‘green’ and my assigned nail art style is waterfall. In hindsight, we probably should have scheduled the green prompt for earlier in the month so you could get some St. Patty’s Day inspiration ideas. Oops! Maybe next year!

To top it off…the prompt is actually “Three shades of Green”. I used four. #cheater

The polishes I used were Dollish Polish Toss My Salad, Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, Sally Hansen I-rush Luck, and Sally Hansen Seasational.

I learned quickly that when one uses green colors to make a waterfall mani, it actually looks like a grass mani. ;)

A Polish 4-Way with Mango Bunny Polish Nope Still Winter

{Purchased by Me}{Press Samples}{Affiliate Links}

Today I’m going to have a polish 4-way. Get your mind out of the gutter. I obviously mean that I’m going to take one polish and show you four different ways to use it! Today, the chosen polish is Mango Bunny Polish Nope, Still Winter which is from the Limited Edition January 2016 duo. (The other half of the duo is a crelly with the same glitter mix called Spring, Is that You?) Nope, Still Winter was given to me as a press sample from the lovely Ed, co-owner of Mango Bunny Polish.

The first look that popped into my mind when I saw the purple microglitter was that it would look just spiffing over hot pink. I selected Sally Hansen Fuchsia Power which is my go-to hot pink. I’ve used half the bottle already so I think it’s time I got a backup!! This is two coats of Fuchsia Power topped with one coat of Nope, Still Winter.

At Ed’s suggestion, I’m going to try and do more macros. The only reason I haven’t done them consistently before is because I’m lazy. How’s that for some real talk? LOL.

The next design that popped into my head was glitter tips. I love glitter tips and they are a perfect step into nail art because they’re super easy to do, but look really fun. I put a blob of Nope, Still Winter on a clean makeup sponge and then dabbed it on the tips. The base polish is Dermelect Lazy Daze (which was originally sent to me as a press sample).

Woah! Two macros in one post! It’s almost like I tried or something. ;)glitter-tips-macro

The third idea that came to mind was to layer Nope, Still Winter over black. I love putting microglitters on black. Just take a look and you’ll see why. I used Zoya Willa (which was originally sent to me as a press sample). This time, I did two coats of Nope, Still Winter because I really wanted this to be super glittery.

Ok, so now I kinda see Ed’s point about Macros. I’m super in love with this picture if I don’t say so myself.

The last design I had to do with this polish was to put some stamping on top of the layering from the previous look. I love layering microglitters on black, but I even more love stamping on top of them!! I used Konad Black, a design from Cici & Sisi Plate 29, and my Born Pretty Store Clear Jelly Stamper to create this final look.

What did you think of this polish 4-way? Was this a useful post for you? I don’t know if anyone noticed, but I am experimenting with not posting new stuff on the weekends. I’ll still be on social media, there just won’t be a new post on the blog. I hope that by reducing the number of posts I do, I can increase the quality of the posts that get published. Please give me your feedback about what you think of this new strategy and this new post type. You know I always love to hear from you!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Film Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

This week for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge, the prompt is ‘film’. I love Marilyn Monroe films so I decide do do film nail art in honor of her! I made a stamped decal using my Bliss Kiss Miracle Mat and Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L016.

Polishes used for this were:
Konad Black
Zoya Cala (originally sent to me as a press sample)
Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow (original formula)
OPI Coca-Cola Red
Morgan Taylor All White Now

I don’t know what it is about Marilyn Monroe that attracts me so much. I’ve read three or four different biographies on her and I’ve seen as many of her movies as I can get my hands on. I even have cd’s with the songs she sang.  There really is a beguiling allure about her. At least for me!

Brown and Purple Stamping Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

This nail art starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Spice Age which was originally sent to me as a press sample. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Lilac to stamp a design from Bundle Monster BM-XL206 which is a collaboration plate with Nailstamp4fun.

Snowflake Nail Art Stamping

[Press Sample}{Affiliate Link}

Who’s up for some more wintery nail art? Today I have some snowflake nail art for you! I used last year’s Cici&Sisi holiday plate which appears to no longer be available. However, all their stamping plates are awesome and I get a ton of use out of them. If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend it! I used Sally Hansen Buffalo Nickel as my base color. (This was originally sent to me as a press sample.) My stamping polish was Konad White.

Born Pretty Store Review – Gold V Stickers

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Born Pretty Store sent me this sheet of gold nail art stickers to review for you! These are super easy to apply for instant nail art! I started with Sally Hansen Heart to Heart which is a lovely classic red creme.

This design reminds me of both The Great Gatsby and Wonder Woman. In my head, I was imagining festive holiday, but I will totally take a mani that looks like Wonder Woman any day!

These stickers laid wonderfully flat, despite my sharp c-curve. They were very easy to apply. For added durability, you’ll want to add a topcoat as well. I waited until the red polish was completely dry before applying so I could preposition, if necessary, without ruining the base color.

Thanks again to BPS for sending me these to review! You can find these supplies and more in the nail art section of the Born Pretty Store. Use code FYL91 to receive 10% off all your supplies at

Drugstore Holiday Nail Polish Collections

{Press Sample}

Sally Hansen and NYC each sent me two of their holiday polishes to swatch and share with you! I’ve always been a big fan of these two brands because they are inexpensive, easy to find, and of great quality! All swatches are two coats.

Sally Hansen Buffalo Nickel is a metallic silver.

Sally Hansen Spice Age is a shimmery metallic brown that is super gorgeous in sunlight.

NYC Ruby Slippers is a red jelly full of little glitters. I love all the jelly+glitter polishes from NYC and this one is no exception!

NYC Sea of Diamonds is a blue jelly with glitters. This is another stunner from NYC! It’s sparkles galore!

Some of these polishes are re-promotes but all of them are beautiful! Never underestimate the beauty of a drugstore polish!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Gray + Color

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s mani is part of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week’s prompt is Gray + Color nail art. My assigned nail art technique was stripes. I dusted off my trusted striping tape to do this mani. I used Sally Hansen Concrete Jungle (originally sent to me as a press sample) and Sally Hansen Red My Lips.

Enchanted Polish Rainbow Juice with Pulp

{Purchased by Me}

Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink was the polish that started this crazy obsession for me! I’m wearing her today topped with Enchanted Polish Rainbow Juice (with pulp).

Halloween with Sally Hansen and NYC!

{Press Sample}

Sally Hansen and NYC sent me some of their Halloween-themed nail polish just in time to show you for Halloween! Good thing these are available at drugstores nationwide! They also sent me their waterproof eyeshadow stick in black and Rimmel threw in their Lift Me Up mascara in black.

NYC Black Lace is a creme polish. It’s a bit on the thin side, but arrives at full opacity in two coats.

I used these adorable pumpkin nail stickers from Polished Vino to create a very quick and easy Halloween mani.

Sally Hansen Electra-Cute is the perfect shade of Halloween orange!

Sally Hansen Blacky O is a lovely black creme. It’s thicker than the NYC one so if you’re looking for a black creme, then you’ll just need to decide which kind of formula you like better.

Here is my Halloween skittle nail art! I used Blacky O as the base. I used striping tape and vinyls from Polished Vino to create the different look on each nail using Electra-Cute.

Happy Halloween!! Remember to be safe out there! And leave your pets indoors!!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas….Halloween

{Purchased By Me}

Welcome to another week of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge!!! This week’s prompt is Halloween, of course! I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Honeymoon Red. This formula was very tricky to work with. It consistently flooded my cuticles! Argh! Good thing it’s a pretty color! The decals are from Polished Vino. Technically, the spiderweb was supposed to be a stencil but I used it as a sticker because I’m a freakin’ rebel like that.

Sally Hansen Fall 2015 Designer Inspired Shades

{Press Sample}

Sally Hansen has teamed with designer Prabal Gurung to create a trio of polish for the fall! Prabal Gurung launched his eponymous collection in February 2009 with a philosophy encompassing modern luxury, bold femininity and an astute sense of glamour.

Gurung was born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. After beginning his design career in New Delhi he moved to New York to finish his studies at Parsons The New School for Design. Upon graduating, Gurung spent two years with Cynthia Rowley’s design and production teams. Soon after, he was appointed design director at the iconic Bill Blass, a post he held for five years until launching his own collection, PRABAL GURUNG.

A focus on quality and innovation has placed Gurung at the forefront of American fashion with designs worn by leading ladies including First Lady Michelle Obama and The Duchess of Cambridge, to name a few. In 2010 he was the recipient of the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award and selected as runner up for the 2010 CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund. In 2011 Gurung was honored as one of USA Network’s Character Approved Award recipients, named goodwill ambassador of Maiti Nepal, a finalist of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award and was the recipient of the 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear. Prabal Gurung was the official 2013 designer collaborator for Target and in September 2014 launched footwear on the Spring 2015 runway.

Prabal Gurung collaborated with Sally Hansen for the tenth consecutive season to create three exclusive nail polish shades to compliment his Fall 2015 collection, which is a graphic, modern take on effortless glamour.

The exclusive Prabal Gurung for Sally Hansen collection includes: Complete Salon Manicure in Midnight Affair, Complete Salon Manicure in Leaf Peeper,  Complete Salon Manicure in Concrete Jungle

Sally Hansen Concrete Jungle is a lovely medium gray.

Sally Hansen Midnight Affair is a cobalt blue.  I got quite a few compliments on this color when I wore it to work!

Sally Hansen Leaf Peeper is a dusty rose.sally-hansen-leaf-peeper

Here is the nail art I did using all three of these polishes! To do this, I used vinyls from Twinkled T to create this faux watermarble look.

What do you think of this new trio?

Half Watermarble Decals Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

For this mani, I used the watermarble decals method (tutorial here). I started with three coats of Sally Hansen Combustealble. Then, I made the decals using Sally Hansen Fright Night and Sally Hansen OMGhost. I put the decal on half my nail and then lined it with blue striping tape.

Here’s the super quick video that I’ll be uploading to Instagram.

Here is a plain swatch of Sally Hansen Combusteable for your viewing pleasure.
