MoistureWORX Lotion and Cuticle Balm Review

{Press Sample}

DermWORX sent me their MoistureWORX Heel and Elbow Intensive Lotion and their MoistureWORX Nail and Cuticle Fortifying treatment.

From their website:

Comprehensive & clinically proven formula for thick, dry, hyperkeratotic skin

It’s a “facelift” for your feet! This comprehensive and clinically-proven formula decreases skin roughness while repairing visible cracking and flaking.  The rich, non-greasy cream glides onto skin for an immediate soothing effect.

MoistureWORX Heel & Elbow Intensive has a nutrient-rich, comprehensive formulation that attacks the problem of very dry, thick skin across 10 variables. In a clinical study, users saw a complete elimination of the problem within 22 days – less than one tube! There was also an 18% decrease in skin thickness and a significant improvement in skin roughness. – See more at:

From their website:

Rejuvenate and fortify your nails and cuticles with this protein-packed gel

MoistureWORX Nail & Cuticle Fortifying Treatment is a clinically-developed formula that restores and fortifies lifeless nails while soothing and conditioning dry, damaged cuticles.  The nutrient-infused complex leaves you with shiny, strong nails and smooth cuticles. – See more at:

My Thoughts:

I am loving using these two products. My dogs also love them… When I put the lotion on my feet, my dog keeps trying to lick it off! No, Kirby, no! I guess I can’t blame him, after all, it does smell pretty good! (But the scent is very light. It’s not perfumey so you don’t have to worry about walking around, smelling like a dirty old lady.)

My feet usually get so dry that they itch-itch-itch – especially in the summer months. I typically put lotion on my feet before I go to bed every night. I found that with the MoistureWORX intensive lotion, I actually only have to do it every few nights. I’ve had non-itchy feet for days! It’s practically amazing – and quite a relief!

The cuticle treatment is also enjoyable. I do prefer to have jojoba oil in my cuticle products, but this one does moisturize well even without it. The treatment is quite thick, thicker than Eucerin or Vaseline. It comes out of the tube slowly, which is a really good thing. Otherwise, I’d squirt it everywhere and have grease stains on all my clothes. (Well….more grease stains.) My cuticles were already in pretty great shape so I don’t have a before and after picture to show you. What I can say is that it smells really nice and feels really good. The thickness of the product actually helps keep it in place while it soaks in to your skin.

I would recommend both these products, especially if you’re like me and you have constantly dry skin. (Thanks, dad! Thanks for the dry skin genetics. Love you!)

Savvy Naturalista Review and Swatches

{Press Sample}

The Savvy Naturalista sent me a sampling of her polishes, soap, and chapstick to share with you! This is  new-to-me indie brand, which I’m always excited to try. Shundara sent me her Blue’s Clues duo, which might be a trio if you’re lucky!! The standard duo comes with Baby Blue Clue and Blue’s Shifting Paw. You may or may not get Bubblegum Mystery…whether you get it or not…is a mystery! How fun!

The soap I got is called What did the Cherry Say? It smells delightful!! I am very happy with this soap. A lot of indie soaps dry my skin out in the shower and I can’t wait to get out and put some lotion on. I didn’t feel that way with Savvy Naturalista’s soap! Maybe it has something to do with olive oil being the first listed ingredient? I would actually buy more soap from her and I’ve never bought indie soap in my life, so that’s saying something!

The Lip Butter is Through the Grapevine, which is perfect because my husband loves grape flavored things. ;) ;) This is another great product! The smell is fun and it really moisturizes my lips. I have chronic dry lips so I’m super addicted to lip balms. I’ll be reaching for this one often!

Let’s take a look at the polishes!!!

Savvy Naturalista Bubblegum Mystery is a bubblegum color with magenta flair. I have a swatch with and without flash so you can see how this one changes. I used three coats.

Savvy Naturalista Baby Blue Clues is a very light blue. I used three coats. This polish is a tad sheer for my taste, but I did some nail art on top that I really loved. Make sure to subscribe via email or bloglovin‘ so you don’t miss it!

Savvy Naturalista Blue’s Shifting Paw is a medium toned blue with subtle, pink shifting shimmers in it.

Thanks again to Savvy Naturalista for sending these to me! My favorite product of the bunch would have to be the soap! What would you want to try?

Youngblood Mineral Primer Review

{Press Sample} sent me their YoungBlood Mineral Primer to review for you! The primer I usually use is really a BB cream, so I was interested to see how this would compare since the YoungBlood primer is colorless.

It went on very smoothly. I was pleased with how my foundation applied on top of this primer. I tested this primer out on a day where I had an important luncheon to attend. That was pretty risky! What if I had a makeup meltdown?! Luckily, YoungBlood Mineral Primer helped keep my foundation and skin looking great throughout the day.

I was most pleased with how the primer helped my concealer under my eyes. I have a lot of trouble with it looking cakey under there. I have such dark circles and they are a pain to cover up. I have to decide what’s the lesser of two evils? Looking like I didn’t get any sleep or looking like concealer exploded in my face. YoungBlood Mineral Primer helped keep the skin moisturized so it just looked like skin and not some sort of baking disaster! (Because it looks cakey! Get it? Get it? LOL. Sometimes my jokes are pretty darn stupid!…or hilarious?)

Thanks again to for sending this mineral primer my way! I will definitely be reaching for this everyday!

ITCosmetics Partners with Emily Liebert

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

ITCosmetics is known for being the best kept (beauty) secret of confident, independent women and Emily Liebert’s new book Those Secrets We Keep, is about the secrets of three strong women and the summer in which all is revealed. ITCosmetics was kind enough to send me samples of three of their products as well as a copy of the book.

Here is the makup look I did using the products ITCosmetics sent me. They sent me Hello Lashes Mascara, No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, and Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil. I did not use the eyebrow pencil, reasons for which are explained below.

I have not actually read this book. I probably will someday, but book club sure is keeping me busy! (You know who you are!)

ITCosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black. This stuff was super awesome. In fact, it might even be my new go-to pencil. It went on smoothly and it stayed all day! I was very impressed with its wearing power as I usually have to clean up under my eyes quite a bit at the end of the day. Not so with this little guy!

ITCosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara in black. On the first coat, I didn’t think this product was going to work for me, but it layered really well without clumping or looking like creepy spider legs.

I especially like the brush bulb (not the technical name…) at the tip of the wand. This allows precise application on the harder to reach areas such as corner lashes.

ITCosmetics Brow Power in universal taupe. Unfortunately, this product did not work well for me. I was not getting any color payoff. So much so, I thought something was wrong! So I swatched it on my arm (below). It was producing pigment, but it wasn’t filling in my brows nearly enough for my satisfaction. This product would be good if you just want a tiny bit of help with your brows. Mine need a total makeover every morning.

I’ve used the eyeliner and mascara a couple days in a row now, and they are still performing just as well as the first day. Hooray!

Thanks again to ITCosmetics for sending these fun products my way! Did anything catch your eye? What are you going to try? (Hey! That rhymed!)

Gallany Bougainvillea Lipstick Review

{Press Sample}

Gallany sent me lipstick to review for you! The shade is called Bougainvillea (which is a kind of flowering plant). Bougainvillea is a lovely light pink. I first learned of Gallany Cosmetics in a recent Ipsy bag. Their lipsticks are very smooth, creamy, and flattering. I have very dry skin so I have to be careful what I put on my lips. Anything that dries out my skin will cause days of discomfort, even after I stop using it. I’m pleased to report that the Gallany lipsticks are nice and moisturizing so I can wear it everyday if I want!

I wore this shade to a family dinner and my mother-in-law went gaga over it. She’s the kind of person who won’t tell a false compliment, so you know she likes it if she says so!

I got my hair cut the day I was testing out Gallany Bougainvillea and I liked my bang swoop so much that I was compelled to do duckface. Which begs the philosophical question…Is it ok to do duckface if you know you’re doing it ironically???

NYC Satin Matte Lipstick

{Press Sample}

NYC sent my their new Satin Matte lipsticks to show you! I was sent three shades from the new collection. From left to right, I received Velvety Fuchsia, Smooth Beige, and Red Suede.

NYC Velvety Fuchsia

Velvety Fuchsia is an awesome bright pink. It applied smoothly and makes a really nice statement lip!

NYC Smooth Beige

Smooth Beige is for sure a great nude. I rarely (read: never) do a nude lip so I won’t get a lot of use out of this one, but the texture was lovely and I like the quality of the lipstick.

NYC Red Suede

Red Suede gives you a classic red lip! I’ve actually already worn this one multiple times!!

I would recommend picking at least one of these up if you see them in your store! There’s no need to pay super high prices for lip color when these beauties are available! Thanks again to NYC for sending me the NYC Satin Matte Lipstick collection!

Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Review

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Smile Brilliant contacted me about reviewing their custom-fitted teeth whitening trays and gel system. I take great pride in my teeth considering I spent 9 years (!!!!!!) in braces. For fun, here is a picture of me before braces (but after my adult teeth came in.) I think this was first or second grade. (Mom? Are you reading this? What grade was this??)

Yikes! Those crooked teeth could derail a train! Needless to say, after fixing those monsters, I only want the best for them!

Smile Brilliant brings a unique twist to the at-home whitening market. You actually make custom impressions of your teeth and send them back. Smile Brilliant then takes them to a lab where custom trays are made just like what the dentist would make. A few years ago, I asked my dentist what whitening trays would cost and they quoted me something like $600+. That is too much money for my vanity! (Think of all the nail polish $600 could get me!!) So I purchased teeth liners from the grocery store and called it good….until now. Smile Brilliant quickly ships a kit with everything you’ll need to get started.

You can save 5% off your order by using coupon code bettysbeautybombs at! (Expires 5/31/2015)

I can’t even begin to tell you how easy it was to make my custom impressions. Not only was it easy, but it was rather fun! It took less than 5 minutes.

Getting ready to start!!!

And here I am, making my own trays! I’ve had this done numerous times at the dentist and orthodontist for various reasons…so I already felt like a pro. :P (PS It’s hard to get a flattering photo when you’ve been up for 17 hours and you’re make teeth trays….)

The nice thing about custom fitted trays is that they will keep the whitening gel in every nook and cranny of your teeth unlike strips or generic trays which don’t mold as well to your unique chompers. Whitening gel will only be able to whiten what it comes in contact with…so…if it doesn’t fit your teeth just right….I think you see where I’m going with this!

And here are my completed trays! Easy as pie! (Which is a stupid saying because pie isn’t really that easy. Maybe the original saying was easy as eating pie. Because that is easy.)

The older you are, the more stains you’re going to have. I’m 30, so Smile Brilliant recommends 7-14 applications before I start seeing results. Speaking of results…its important to note that you will see about 2-3 shades difference. You should not expect to look like Ross from that episode of Friends.

Not going to happen
Not going to happen

You don’t want to look like this anyway…because Ross’s teeth ruined his date that night and we don’t want our dates ruined, now do we?

After I popped my molds in the mail, I just waited a little over a week – and my custom made trays were back!

Here are my ‘before’ pictures. I made sure to drink lots of extra coffee and wine in the weeks leading up to this review. (Just kidding. But not really.)

After about two weeks of use, I decided it was time to take a look at some ‘after’ shots. I was not able to do the whitening every day – sometimes life just got in the way! But I did it about 4-6 days per week for two weeks. I wasn’t noticing a difference but now that I put the before and after pictures side-by-side, I notice at least three shades whiter!

Try not to be distracted by my different lip gloss colors. ;)

My mother-in-law even commented on my whiter teeth when I saw her last weekend. (And let’s be real – mothers-in-law always tell the truth!) On some days, I used the desensitizing gel and some days I didn’t. I can tell you that it does make a difference, especially during the whitening process itself. If you have sensitive teeth, I suggest getting the desentizing gel with your order.

You can save 5% off your order by using coupon code bettysbeautybombs at! (Expires 5/31/2015)

Thanks again to Marty at Smile Brilliant for sending this awesome system my way. I would highly recommend it and I will be encouraging my husband to purchase a kit as well!

Stamping using Bliss Kiss Simply Peel for Clean Up!

{Affiliate Links}{Press Sample}{Purchased By Me}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of Color Club Tall, Dark, and Handsome which is from their Love Tahiry collection. I used Mundo de Unas Forest and a design from the yellow Cici&Sisi set to stamp the design on.

I recently did a review of Bliss Kiss Simply Peel liquid latex (See it here!) and I wanted to show you how I use it to clean up my stamping nail art….or to be more precise, how I use it to avoid having to clean up!!

Before stamping, I put a layer of the liquid latex around my cuticles and sidewall of my nails. My fingers are posed all awkward because if the latex will stick to itself so I couldn’t have them touching!

When Bliss Kiss Simply Peel is dry, it becomes clear with a splattering of glitter to show you where it is. Here is my stamping pre-cleanup. As you can see, stamping can be a pretty messy affair! Before Simply Peel, I would use a cotton swab and a concealer brush with acetone to clean up all the polish on my skin. Then, I would have to apply some lotion to re-hydrate my skin. I would wait until the lotion absorbed before taking pictures. That was a little tedious.

With Simply Peel, I just peel it off! I don’t have to put on lotion before my pictures are taken because the latex doesn’t dry out your skin! Look! Look! It just all comes off! Without acetone! It’s amazing and I’m so glad I have this because it makes life so much easier. And let’s be real – – It’s super fun to peel this off your skin.

Here’s my finished mani!

And my G@$#D@&$% pointer finger always gets messed up! Argh! I’m going to put it on a 6-month performance plan and if it doesn’t get its act together, it’s so fired!

Zim’s Product Review and Giveaway!!

{Press Sample}

Zim’s sent me these two products to review for you! They sent me Zim’s Advanced Organic Crack Creme with Hydro-cortisone and Zim’s Max-Freeze Spray. I am excited to try these items because I am always looking for great hand cremes and I also have terrible carpal tunnel in my right wrist. The hand creme has obvious relation to a beauty blog, but what about the joint relief freeze gel? Well, if you’re anything like me, you sit at a desk for hours and hours either doing your nails or looking at nail art online! This repetitive motion can cause a ton of joint and muscle pain!

Zim’s Advanced Crack Creme provides relief for cracked, dry, or cut hands and feet. The added hydro-cortisone speeds up the healing process and provides extra relief for minor cuts and scrapes. This is especially useful in the winter months when dry, cracked hands and feet are especially painful. I’ve been using this on my feet for a week and loving it. My feet can get so dry that they crack and itch. It’s super uncomfortable. The great thing about Zim’s creme is that you get the immediate anti-itch relief which is not something I experience with other cremes.

Zim’s Max Freeze Spray provides a cooling sensation and topical analgesic for temporary relief of aching muscles and joints. I have been using this at work where I’m on the computer all day long. Many days, my wrist and thumb hurt so much that I actually can’t hold a full cup of coffee. My muscles and joints in my hand are just too stiff and sore to grip a heavy mug without dropping it!  This freeze gel relieves that pain quite a bit. It reminds me of icy hot but is much easier to apply. Since it’s a spray gel, I don’t have to get any on my hands to apply it. I just spray it where it’s necessary!

I will be buying more of both of these products. They are going to become staples in my supplies!!

You can enter to win one of these products!! The best part is, you get to pick which one! Just enter using this easy form:

Bliss Kiss Simply Satin Body Fluff Review

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Much to my eternal dismay, Bliss Kiss is no longer selling the body fluff. My heart is still crying. Lately, I’ve been using SeneGence Shea Butter Body Cream or Hand Lotion as an alternative. A tub of the shea butter body cream is $30. You can order it here.

As many of you already know, I’m a huge fan of Bliss Kiss products from It’s my number one go-to cuticle oil. On top of that, the owner is super nice and amazing. What many of you don’t know is that I’m also obsessed with her body fluff.  Bliss Kiss Simply Satin Body Fluff made its debut last winter, I believe. (Don’t quote me on that date…) I immediately fell in love. It smelled divine and moisturized like a bad ass. Unfortunately, Ana wasn’t happy with the formula. It had a very low melting point which meant it was nearly impossible to ship. She took the fluff off the market, much to my dismay. I nagged her as much as I could and she kept telling me they were reformulating. I used my jars sparingly. I didn’t want to run out! Then, on the evening of my 30th birthday party, my dogs ate my last jar!!! OH GOD NO!!! I WAS OUT OF FLUFF!!! This was seriously a disaster. I emailed Ana begging her to sell me more! I didn’t care about melting points mumbo-jumbo! I just needed my fix!!!!

Well…fast forward to now! Ana has finally released a fluff again!! When I found out, I flooded her with memes such as these:

 She gave me one jar of fluff but I also purchased two jars since I know I love it so much. SO what is this magical fluff? It’s a hand (and body) moisturizer that is excellent at its job. It has coconut oil in it which makes it smell super delicious. No wonder my dogs ate it!

It has a very soft and fluffy texture, hence its name. It looks like whipped cream! (Not recommended for use on top of cupcakes.)

On top of all these other magical qualities, it also absorbs super fast. This is essential for bloggers! You don’t want to look at shiny fingers, do you? But you also don’t want to see dry, cracked and acetone-eaten fingers!! Well Bliss Kiss fluff moisturizes really well and soaks in super fast. This photo, published earlier this week, was taken just a few moments after using this fluff. Do you see dry skin? No, you do not. Do you see overly shiny fingers. No, you do not! Isn’t that fabulous? In fact, I hope you don’t even notice my fingers at all because it’s supposed to be about the art on the nail!

I can’t recommend this fluff highly enough. If you get it and end up not liking it, then send it my way! LOL! I’ll use it for sure! Her site shows it currently as sold out, but she should be releasing some any minute now. So make sure to follow here on Facebook so that you find out when it’s back in stock! Then you can be addicted like me! You can get it at

Modere Skincare Review

{Press Sample}

Modere sent me a complimentary box of their skin care line to test and review for you. I have been using these products for one week. Modere is launching a new service called the beauty box. This service allows you to try their whole skin care line using samples from the box. The box also contains the full sized products. If you use the samples and don’t like the skincare, you simply return the unopened full sized products and that’s it! (There is already a pre-printed return slip in the box so this step is quite easy). If you love all the products, you keep them all! After the 7th day, Modere will charge you $79.99+tax. If you only like some of the products, you can return what you don’t want and they will charge you only for the products you keep. At first, I thought $80+ for a box of skin care was pretty pricey. But then I remembered that I just bought a single bottle of face wash for $35 so I really shouldn’t judge! LOL!!

My box was sent through their marketing department so I can’t review the ordering process, but their website seems easy to use and navigate. The day before my order was to arrive, I received a very nice voicemail letting me know it was almost at my door and that they hoped I would love everything. I can only assume this courtesy call is made to all customers.

The packaging is very nice and deluxe-feeling. I will probably re-purpose the black and pink box it came in! At the top of each full-sized item, you have the matched sample size. I put a quarter in the middle so you could get a sense of the size.

Modere-Skincare-reviews - Copy

The box comes with a booklet explaining what each product does and how to use it. Here is an example from the page for the exfoliant.

Red Apple Lipstick Review and Swatches

I purchased two lipsticks from Red Apple Lipstick after seeing it on Colour My Obsession‘s Blog.

This first color is Boys ‘n’ Berries. This is a shimmery light purple that goes on very sheer. I tried to build it up a little more, but this was as dark as I could get it. I wish it was more pigmented but it’s still a pretty color!

This color is Red Apple Lipstick Strawberry Lips. I like this one a lot better than Boys ‘n Berries. It goes on smoother and has more pigment.

Overall, these lipsticks are pretty standard. They are great if you need an all natural, gluten-free lipstick but otherwise, they’re not any different.. They weren’t more or less moisturizing or long-lasting.

I will use and enjoy the ones I have but I may not buy more. They have a high pricepoint at $20++.

NeoCell Beauty Bursts Review

{Press Sample}

NeoCell was kind enough to send me some supplements to review! They sent me some for both my dog and me! I selected the Berry Burst flavor because I hate taking vitamins so I thought it would be better to have some tasty chewables!

Sephora Give Me More Lip

I treated myself this month and got the Sephora Give Me More Lip set. It has 17 lip product mini’s! I love lip products almost as much as I love nail polish. Too bad lip products go bad! This would be the perfect gift for any makeup fanatic. It would also be wonderful for someone just learning about makeup because it would give them a lot of colors and formulas to try out.

For your reference, here are my lips without any product on them.

Born Pretty Nail Art Studs Review

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store was kind enough to let me pick some nail art items for review from their shop. One of the items I picked was this set of nail art studs. I don’t use studs all that much so I thought it would be a fun experiment to see how they worked for a ‘studs beginner’. I was really drawn to the stars. There is just something about stars that I love in nail art!!

I started with two coats of Mentality Asphalt (which I also originally received as a press sample). Then I applied a top coat and right away (per nail) placed a star stud. After each nail was done, then I went an applied another layer of top coat to seal in the stud. If you really want the studs to last, you’re going to need to use nail glue. I change my mani every day so I did not want or need that kind of lasting power.

Born Pretty Store Nail Decal Review

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store was kind enough to send me some products of my choosing to review for you! In addition to a stamping plate and some studs, I picked these nail art stickers. They are called the Rose Red Bloomy Stickers but they look very Hawaiian to me!

The instructions are easy to follow and are the same as every other nail sticker I have tried. This is a really good thing because wouldn’t it be a pain if they all had different instructions???

I really wanted the pink to pop so I started with two coats of Mentality Spackle which is a white matte polish.

I absolutely love how these turned out. I think the look is beautiful and it was so, so easy to do. There are a ton of bloggers who could freehand something like this, but I will never be one of them. I can hardly draw stick figures. These nail stickers give us non-artistic people a way to still have gorgeous flowers on our nails! Some people might consider it cheating, but as the saying goes, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’!” And I’m tryin’! I’m tryin! :)

You can see a tiny spot where I didn’t get the decal to lay flat. I blame the UPS delivery man. I was waiting for a package so every time my dogs barked, I ran to the door to see if it was him. LOL. (It wasn’t) I finished this with a top coat and I’m happy to report that it didn’t smear the decal’s color. I have used decals from another brand and it always smeared. I thought it was me being an idiot! As it turns out, it was those other decals. I’m happy to report that with the Born Pretty Store decals, you can top coat safely!

You can find these stickers and more in the nail art section of the Born Pretty Store. Use code FYL91 to receive 10% off all your supplies at

Nail Art Stamping 101: Picking a Stamper

What’s in a stamper? Does it make a difference? What’s the difference between them all? There are so many!!

One of the most frustrating things about starting to do stamping nail art is trying to figure out what the heck is the difference between all the supplies!! This article will focus on the stampers themselves. The stamper is going to be your right-hand man when it comes to stamping. Passion for different plates will come and go, but once you find a stamper you love, you will be fiercely loyal to it! But where to even start?! I’m going to take you through the different stampers I have tried. I will explain what I do and don’t like about each one so you can make an educated decision yourself.

This article does not describe every stamper available. It is only the ones I’ve tried. One stamper I haven’t tried yet, but would love to, is the sticky marshmallow. They are very hard to come by and it seems that every time a vendor starts selling them, they get sold out and are no longer available. Argh!! But I digress…

Here are all the stampers I own. For some of them, I own more than one, but this represents all the different kinds I have.

Let’s take a look at these one by one. By the end of this post, you’ll at least know which stamper you want to try first.

Gray Soft Squishy

I don’t know what this one is called. It’s a generic, inexpensive stamper. Yet….It’s my FAVORITE. I first got it in this Cici&Sisi Stamping Plate set as a free gift. This stamper is squishy meaning that it’s easy to push in to it. Squishy stampers make it easier to cover your whole nail in one, firm press, rather than having to roll the stamper across your nail like you have to do with firm stampers.

This stamper is best at picking up creme and specialty stamping polishes. It does not do well with metallics or chromes. It needs a quick swipe with acetone every 4-5 nails to keep the images crisp.

Konad Firm Stamper

This is my second favorite stamper. The Konad Firm Stamper makes it more difficult to transfer the images than the squishy gray. It’s more difficult because you have to roll it across your nail rather than simply pressing down. This leaves more room for error and smudges. The reason why I like it so much is that it is excellent at picking up finicky polishes. It’s the only stamper I’ve found that will pick up and transfer metallics and foil polishes, such as the Sally Hansen Color Foils. If a polish isn’t getting picked up by my squishy gray, this is plan B. I don’t blame the polish until I’ve tried to use it with my Konad Stamper! This guy can pick up almost anything!

Wistonia Squishy Firm Stamper

The Wistonia stamper has a firmness in between the Konad and the squishy gray. This was my favorite stamper until I discovered the squishy gray. This one needs a lot of prepping to get it to work. Prepping is where you lightly buff the stamper head with a fine nail file and then clean it with acetone or a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. This one is really best at cremes and specialty stamping polishes. I have not gotten it to pick up the more finicky textures.

One bonus of this is that it is double-ended. The white end is the squishy end while the red end is quite firm. However, the red end is not large enough for full nail designs. But, it’s great for precise placement of small individual images on a nail. That is a very small need to fill, but I have found myself reaching for this stamper for that specific reason.

Vivid Lacquer Square Firm

I purchased this one because I love Vivid Lacquer stamping plates so much, so I figured her stamper must be great. I was wrong. I’m not a fan of this one. It’s firm, so you have to roll it on your nail (increasing room for error) but it doesn’t pick up the finicky polishes as well as the Konad does. I believe Vivid Lacquer is simply a re-seller of this since I’ve seen this exact stamper available on other sites. But, I’m calling it the VL stamper since that’s where I purchased it. I rarely use this one. When I do use it, I use it for making homemade decals. It works well for that!

Pueen Squishy Stamper

This one has little to no redeeming qualities. It hardly can pick up an image, so I can’t even really speak to how well it transfers things! I don’t ever use this one. It’s possible I haven’t prepped it properly, but I do think I’ve had enough experience with stamping to know how to prep. I would not recommend this one.

I hope this article answers some of the questions you’ve had about the difference between stampers! Have you had the same experiences as I describe! I would love to hear what your experience has been!

Julep Nail Mask Review

I recently purchased the Julep Nail Mask as an add-on to my August 2014 subscription box. I was very curious if this would do anything for my nails. The instructions say to leave it on for 20-30 minutes. I lasted 25. :) Before you scroll down, I have to warn you that my nails are pretty badly stained. I have OPI Tiff

any Case to thank for that! So please try and look past the yellow/blue  tinge! Thanks!! :)

Benefit They’re Real Push Up Eyeliner Review

Benefit They’re Real Mascara is my favorite mascara of all time. Sometimes, I’ll sneak off and have an affair with another mascara, but I always return to They’re Real. So, when Benefit announced they were launching a Benefit They’re Real Push Up Eyeliner, I did this:

I eagerly awaited my Ulta order (which obviously had some nail polish in it too, so there was that anticipation, too!). It finally came and I got to try it! Let’s take a look.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Review

I was at Target and lo and behold, somehow Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish ended up in my basked. It was the weirdest thing! I was innocently looking around and BAM. There there were….. I bought the two-pack that comes with a color and a top coat for $14.99 in additional to an individual color for $7.99. The pack came with Sally Hansen Dig Fig which is what I swatched for this review. I picked Dig Fig because it was the darker of the two colors and I thought any chips would show up better.

The application was great – exactly what I’ve come to expect from the brand. I love the brush that comes in the Complete Salon Manicure line and this is the same brush. Hooray! The polish applied like any other polish. Then, I applied the special top coat. The Dig Fig color did stain the brush a little, but as long as it doesn’t affect top coating different polishes, I really don’t care. The polish dried very fast. I didn’t time it, but I was quickly trying to do my nails before we went out to dinner and I literally only had 20 minutes from start to finish. I was able to apply, cleanup, and dry in that time and didn’t smudge anything. Oh! And take pictures! I took pictures in that time too. :)

Top Coat Showdown Part 2 – Durability

People seemed to like and appreciate my first edition of Top Coat Showdown – Dry Time. So I decided to do round 2 – Durability! In other words, how easily and quickly do these bad boys chip? Since in the first edition, the Sally Hansen took so long to dry, I have taken that out. It has been replaced by KB Shimmer Top Coat which I received as a press sample.

Now it’s not fair to throw KB Shimmer into the mix without assessing the dry time in some way. I didn’t do it as scientifically as I did the first round, but I did touch check it in comparison to the others multiple times.  I can tell you the KB Shimmer Clearly On Top is definitely in league with the others. It passed the touch test just as quickly as the others. So, if you’re in the market for a new quick drying top coat, you should consider KB Shimmer among your selections.

Another warning about this post…since I’m testing durability, I have to wear this mani for more than one day. But I love doing nail art every day! Therefore, I decided that my right hand would do the testing. That way, I can continue to do art on my left hand. :) The only problem is…my right hand isn’t nearly as pretty as my left! LOL Also, it’s much harder to cleanup and photograph since I have to do all the work with my non-dominant hand. So I hope you can forgive a little polish that’s out of place and weird hand poses. :)

From Pinkie (Right) to Pointer (left) here are the top coats I’m reviewing:

  1. HK Girl
  2. KB Shimmer
  3. Out the Door
  4. Seche Vite

Here are pics from day one – just about an hour after I applied the polish. I put Seche Vite on my pointer AND my thumb because it wouldn’t be fair to just have it on my pointer. That is the finger that always chips first since I use it the most. Therefore, I’ll average out the chips between the pointer and the thumb as the real test of SV. :)

Top Coat Showdown – Dry Time

I’m a member of a few different Facebook groups for polish lovers. Frequently, people will ask what the favorite top coats are. There are a few names that always come up: Seche Vite, Out the Door, and HK Girl. Each of these top coats has a cult following. I used to use Seche Vite (pronounced “Sesh Veet”) and switched to HK Girl. I have never tried Out the Door. While I was shopping at Costco this morning, I realized I had never seen a side-by-side comparison of these top coats. I’m sure it exists lots of places, but I decided that readers of Betty’s Beauty Bombs should have this comparison right at their fingertips. So, after Costco, I hurried over to Sally Beauty Supply to get Seche Vite and Out the Door. I already have many, many bottles of HK Girl. I added into the showdown Sally Hansen’s Big Shiny Top Coat because I already owned it and who knows…maybe it’ll beat out the others! :)

Espionage Cosmetics – Nerd Makeup

I went to an event last weekend at Espionage Cosmetics. They are the makers of Nerd Makeup. All of their pigments are named after nerdy things! It’s a very fun idea for a makeup line.

I just wanted to write a quick post to show you how great their lip products are. The idea is that you can mix any of their pigments with any of their lipglosses to create custom colors. I picked up the Clairvoyant pigment which is hot pink and Venom lip gloss which is an orangey shade. I mixed them together to create the lip color you see below. (Alert: Rare face pic! :D)

And here’s a shot of my well-loved Thermos coffee mug. Why would I show you a picture of my coffee mug? Am I turned into a Thermos reviewer all of a sudden? Or maybe I’m reviewing coffee? Or maybe I want to show you how this mug has held up despite being dropped 100 times a day? (As the scratches attest to.)
None of the above! I show you this picture because of what is NOT in the picture. What’s NOT in the picture? LIPSTICK! This lip combo wasn’t transferring to my mug! I was so impressed! Normally there is clear lip product on the rim of my mug. Not with this combo! How cool is that?!?!?!
