Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm Review

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Carmex sent me four of their limited edition moisture plus lip balms to review for you! These are available wherever Carmex is sold (see below for more info) and on Amazon. First off, we need to talk about how freaking adorable the packaging is. I can’t even decide which one I like the best because they are all so cute!

I want to do a matching manicure for each and every one of these! (Stay tuned…those will be in separate posts later this month!) If you’re like me, you carry a lip balm (or two or three…) with you wherever you go, so it’s awesome that this look so great! I love that it’s skinnier than most lip balms because then it doesn’t look like you have anything in your pocket.

I should probably talk about more than just how much I love the designs, right? The size of these balms is perfect for taking with you since it slides easily into pockets, purses, and car consoles. They have a very slight vanilla scent but you can still smell that classic Carmex scent. They also tingle just a tad like classic Carmex. These have SPF 15 so you can use them during your outside plans as well. (I don’t leave the indoors so I’m not really sure what those plans should be.) The balms have Aloe, Vitamin E, and Shea butter to relieve chapped lips and keep them from getting chapped in the first place.

Find the newest design at your drugstore checkout or on Amazon.

I have one small, final confession to make. The night I got these in the mail, I popped the lace one in my pocket and we took our dog to the vet for his annual exam. When we got home, I realized I had lost the lip balm!! I was so upset because how could I review something I’d lost? (I know, I know – I had three others to review but the lace one was my favorite!) So, I spent the next week going to stores to find an exact replacement. I went to Bartell’s and Target and could not find them at all. I went to Walgreen’s and found the collection, but not the lace design. Finally, we went to Wal-Mart and I found it! I bought a backup just in case disaster strikes again. The moral of this story is two fold. One – don’t lose press samples! Two – if you see these in store, get them! They’re actually not super easy to find. Most of the displays I saw only had a couple left. That just goes to show that I’m not the only one who thinks the packaging is too adorable!

Simply Glamorous by Gary Cockerill

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

I don’t normally accept books for review, but I couldn’t resist when I saw this book by Gary Cockerill. Gary is known for working with celebrities such as Eva Longoria, David Beckham, Isla Fisher, Melanie Griffith and more! In this book, he talks about the alleged ‘rules’ of beauty and how some of them just aren’t true. Then, there are thorough explanations on how to get the perfect look for your face.

The book is about the size of a coffee table book and is full color. The photography is gorgeous and the step-by-step instructions are very easy to follow!

Simply Glamorous is available on Amazon starting in October, but you can pre-order it now. It looks like it’s selling for about $15 which is an absolutely incredible price for such a large, full-color book! (That’s the current price on Amazon as of this writing. The price on the back cover says $26.99 USD / $31.50 CAN)

The book (or really I should say ‘manual’!) is divided into face, eyes, and lips to give you a full overview of how to master each part of the makeup routine.

I was highly impressed with how much diversity there was in the models – the women range in ethnicity, age, and face shape. I’m used to seeing either all white models or mostly white with a few black women scattered through. Gary Cockerill clearly took a lot of time planning out his models. I guarantee you, you will find someone in this book that looks like you!

I really enjoy the writing style of the author. It’s easy to follow and the tone makes me feel like he’s talking directly to me.

I had plans on bookmarking different looks I wanted to try, but I found myself marking nearly every page! There are so many great ideas. This book would be an excellent gift for someone just starting out in makeup but it’s also fabulous for someone who’s been obsessed with makeup for years! It’s always good to refresh your skills and get new ideas.

Marie Ernst Soap Review

{Press Sample}

Marie Ernst sent me a sample of her new soap to review for you. She has a Kickstarter going on right now (until Oct 9) if you want to support this indie soap maker! It looks like (based on the kickstarter info) that she might even have a ‘soap of the month’ type of subscription. If you’re reading this after the kickstarter campaign ends, check out her direct site here.

The soap comes in this lovely black box tied with a ribbon. I felt like a lovely present to open!

The soap comes in two parts – the soap part and pumice part.

You are supposed to link the two together. I don’t know why they don’t come pieced together but I am so glad they don’t. It was kinda fun to link them together like legos. (They don’t come apart again.)

The soap lathers very nicely and smells nice and clean. The pumice half is really what makes this soap worthwhile. It scrubs away dead skin and just simply feels great. It also helps the soap half lather.

I liked this soap enough to back it on Kickstarter! So I am putting my money where my mouth is…or am I putting it where my keyboard is?

Hum Nail and Hair Supplements Review

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Hum sent me their Runway Ready supplements to review for you. Hum is available on Amazon or on their website. This box comes with a month’s supply of supplements in easy to grab foil packets. These supplements promote stronger nails, shinier hair, glowing skin, and is vegetarian and vegan.

Per the instructions (and my usual habit with supplements) I took these each day with food.

It takes a few weeks (at least) for a supplement to have noticeable affects on the exterior of your body. I was just noticing results when I ran out of daily packs! (Maybe they planned it like that?? ;) ) If you’re in the market for hair and nail supplements, I would recommend these.

Here is what Hum has to say about their supplement:

I agree with Hum’s claims for these supplements. My nails seem to be growing pretty fast (which is really good because I have a gnarly break on one of my Cinderella nails.) My hair also seems to be growing faster which is kinda bad news since I already need to touch up my roots! :)

Michael Todd Lip Treatment Review

{Press Sample}

Michael Todd sent me their Intensive Cream Lip Treatment to review for you. This can be applied using their special applicator, which I reviewed here, or just applied like regular lip products. The formula is to help with anti-aging by helping plump up the skin to increase firmness and smoothness. I could literally feel this working. It tingled just a little bit. Frequently, when a lip product tingles, I will get a rash around my lips. (I have very sensitive skin!) I made sure to use this lip treatment twice a day for 10 days in a row to ensure the tingling was it working rather than it working on giving me a rash! I’m happy to report that I did not have a reaction and could actually see some results! I swear my upper lip looks bigger!

Ingredients include: Soluble Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice , and Actimp™ (Peptide blend extracted from Parisian sustainably farmed Sweet white Lupine Flower)

I’m just modeling application in this photo! You will want to apply this to bare lips morning and night. :)

Michael Todd Lip Treatment Review

I would recommend this product. It is creamy, moisturizing, and plumps your lips! Will you be looking for this product?

Irresistible Me Hair Extensions Review

{Press Sample}

Irresistible Me contacted me about reviewing their hair extensions. I immediately said “yes” because I’ve always wanted to try hair extensions! With the assistance of my husband, I selected the 22″ (he wanted the 24″!) extensions in Rosewood from the Royal Remy line. When you’re selecting your hair extensions, you’ll want to refer to their fact sheet so you can get an idea of what weights and length definitions are. I was sent the 200 g set which comes with 10 pieces: 1 weft with 4 clips, 2 wefts of 3 clips, 5 wefts of 2 clips, and 2 wefts of 1 clip. I actually can’t even fit all those pieces in my hair so I also have a few left over parts. :)

 Here is a picture of all the wefts hanging from a pants hanger in my bathroom.

Hair Extensions Review

Putting in the hair extensions is so easy. It’s way easier than I thought. Before the extensions arrived, I watched a bajillion (yes, I counted) YouTube videos of how to do it. That is just not necessary. You part your hair horizontally starting at the bottom. Clip in extensions at the roots. Let your hair down and part it again horizontally slightly higher than the first part. Clip in extensions. Repeat until you’re at the top. :) There isn’t really a science to which clips go where in your hair. It’s more like whatever fits in that ‘spot’. The exception is if you decide to get the extensions professionally cut. Then, you will need to label each weft for where it needs to go on your head to maintain that look. Let’s be honest for a moment…I’m lazy so I’m not going to do that. It’s all about looking pretty with as little effort as possible for me!

These are SUPER long. And I love it. And so does my husband. This length is what my sister and I would refer to as “mermaid hair”. Mermaid hair is when your hair is so long that it covers your boobs so that way, when you jump out of the water to save your prince, your not too indecent. ;)

I wore these extensions all day and I was shocked at how comfortable they are. My head didn’t hurt at all at the end of the day, despite the added weight. I typically hate hats and headbands because any pressure on my head will give me a headache. I’m a high maintenance princess like that. But these were hardly noticeable! I even fell asleep with them in (on the couch. Like a real glamour queen) and since the clips are so flat, it was like they were hardly there.

I pretty much want to wear these every day… so here I am hanging out on the couch…by myself…with hair extensions in.

Oh hey! I’m not by myself! Bandit is joining the party!

I wear glasses when I’m not trying to impress anyone…

I can’t rave about these enough. They are so easy to put in. They curl like normal hair because they are normal hair. My husband thinks it’s super sexy. (And mama ain’t complainin’ about that! :P ) I feel really pretty with all this glorious princess hair.

If you want gorgeous princess hair, then these extensions are the ones to get. If you’re not sure on color, then go slightly lighter. You can dye this hair and it’s easier to add color on top of a light extension that it would be to try and lighten an extension that’s too dark.

Since this is real hair, you will need to wash it every once in a while. The website and other reviews I’ve seen says about every 10-20 uses. I used some hair spray on mine, so it will be closer to 10 uses.

I want to wear these every day. Do you think that would be weird to show up to work one day with super long hair??

My final comment about this is a comment a friend of mine made when she saw me wearing this. I hadn’t seen her in about a month and she says, “Holy crap! How fast does your hair grow?!”

Baby Foot Review (Caution: Foot Pics)

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Baby Foot sent me their exfoliant foot peel to review for you. This post contains pictures of feet so if that bothers you, I would recommend skipping. If you have a foot fetish…um…just keep that to yourself. LOL.

The claims of the products are that it will remove all the dry, dead skin on your feet.

The package comes with two single-use booties. You wear them for one hour and then toss them out.

In 5-7 days, your dead skin will start peeling off your feet.

(This is where the feet pics start!)

Almay Makeup Review

{Press Sample}

Almay sent me a huge box of products to review (via the BlogHer program)! I was pretty shocked when I opened the box, I must admit! Look at this haul!

Almay sent four different ways to remove makeup. I’m most excited to try the eraser sticks! I’m going to throw them in my purse for when I’m getting eyeliner where it’s not supposed to be!!

The eraser sticks came in perfectly handy last Thursday afternoon. I had an important work event at the President’s house for our college. I whipped these out and was able to clean up my eye makeup under my eyes. I dabbed a little concealer back on and I looked freshened up and ready to go! This will 100% be a staple in my purse from now on.

Almay sent (from L to R) Liquid Eyeliner in Black, One Coat Mascara in Black, and Almay Eyeliner Pencil in Black.

I also received three eyeshadow quads (from L to R), Intense Everyday Neutrals for Blue Eyes, Intense Party Bright for Brown Eyes, and Intense Evening Smoky for Hazel Eyes.

Here are swatches of the blue eyes:

Here are swatches of the hazel eyes:

Here are swatches of the brown eyes:

In this photo, I have the Almay Smart Shade blush in 10 and the Smooth Eyeshadow in Cashmere.

Cashmere is on the top. I thought it was going to have a lot more yellow based on what it looks like in the package, but it’s a gorgeous light, neutral shade. The blush is on the bottom.

Finally, I also received two Almay Smart shade lip colors in nude light medium and berry light medium. Lastly, a lipgloss in Blooming.

On the first day, I wore Intense Everyday Neutrals for Blue Eyes, liquid liner on my top lashes, and the pencil on the bottom. On the lips, I wore the Berry Smartshade.

On the second day, I wore Intense Party Bright for Brown Eyes, liquid liner on my top lashes, and the pencil on the bottom. On the lips, I wore the Nude Smartshade. (Hey! Look! I’m not taking a selfie in my car!! I had the day off…but I did my makeup just for you! You should really feel special. :) )

On the third day, I wore Intense Evening Smoky for Hazel Eyes, the eyeliner pencil, and the mascara.

On all three days, I used the smart shade blush as well as the Smooth Eyeshadow in Cashmere. I enjoyed all three of these eyeshadow trios and I will be using them again and again. I’m totally in love with the Cashmere eyeshadow and I thought it was going to be my least favorite!! It’s SO creamy and is the perfect shade for under my browbone.

The blush is also pretty great and has become my go-to blush even when I’m not modeling Almay makeup!!

The mascara doesn’t quite give me as much oompf as I would like, but I’m going to use it for my lower lashes and on days when I’m going for the no-makeup look. The liquid eyeliner needs some time to dry before you can go over it again to correct mistakes or fix the line. The pencil liner is super creamy and really does a great job of staying in place for a long time. This is another product that is going to become a staple in my makeup collection

Lastly, the smartshade lipsticks are awesome. They are super creamy and super flattering. I could use them like a chapstick since they’re also super moisturizing!

This was my first time really diving in to the world of Almay makeup and I will certainly start looking at their displays in my local drugstore!!!

Dr.’s Remedy Nail Polish Review

{Press Sample}

I was sent a bottle of Dr.’s Remedy Nail Polish to review for you! This polish was formulated by Dr. Adam Circlincione and Dr. William Spielfogel. Both doctors are podiatrists who seem to have pretty good reviews when googled. (At least at the time of this writing. ;) ) This brand was introduced in 2007 as an alternative to commercial nail products. Their headline claims are that they are big 3-free. According to the bottle, it is distributed by AdWill Labs, Inc.

The color sent to me is Dr.’s Remedy Pink Coral. They have a variety of colors, treatments, and remover.

The formula was quite smooth and reached full opacity in two coats.

This polish retails for $17 which I think is a bit high. It’s unique claims are no longer unique. I’m sure they were in 2007, but these days almost every polish is 3, 4, or 5-free. Their site does, however, have a pretty interesting blog section called “Footnotes“. I had fun reading some of the Q&A. What I saw in there holds up against other advice I’ve seen and heard in the polish community. (In other words, my unprofessional opinion agrees. LOL)

Would I recommend this polish? Yes. Would I pay $17 for it? Probably not. At least not for a standard creme. If I’m going to pay that much, I want it to be a pretty unique and interesting finish. Throw some holo in that formula and I’ll pay whatever you want. ;)

My final thought is that I do like how the formula contains Tea Tree Oil. That’s not something I’ve seen before. Tea Tree Oil is a recommended solution to fight nail fungus. Pure Tea Tree Oil smells like craaaaap though so I’ll take it in small doses in polish and nail oils. :) I don’t want to be in the same room as the pure stuff! Luckily, this polish just smelled like good old polish. :) Mmmmm….I love the smell of polish.

Gwynnie Bee Review – The Solution of What to Wear!

{Purchased By Me}

I recently subscribed to Gwynnie Bee which is basically Netflix for clothes! (If you use my referral link, you’ll get your first month free! Click here!)

Here’s the short version of my review:

  • Netflix for clothes
  • No washing clothes
  • Buy what you love
  • Click here to sign up

The basic concept is you pick some clothes that you want to wear. You put them in your virtual closet and then Gwynnie Bee will send you the number of items you’ve subscribed for. I have taken some screenshots of my account to help illustrate how the service works.

The next step is to browse items. They have dresses, pants, tops, blouses, and outerwear.

When you find something you like, click on it, select your size, and add it to your closet.

Once you fill up your closet, Gwynnie Bee will send you the number of items you’ve subscribed to. I’m on the three-at-a-time plan.

If I end up loving an item, I can purchase it at a discount and keep it! The three items I have right now are each about $30-$45 to buy.

When you’ve worn an item or decide you don’t want it at home any more, just login and tell Gwynnie Bee that you’re sending it back. Then, they will start preparing to ship another item from your closet. Here is a look at my closet:

When you send it back, you don’t even need to wash it! They launder it for you! Say what?!?!?! If that’s not worth the fee, I don’t know what is! :P They included two return envelopes with my box. This means they’re either assuming I’ll keep one or return two at a time. :)

I got a number of compliments when wearing these clothes. Not just from my friends, but from strangers in the grocery story! I think that’s the final work that I’m going to keep this subscription!

ClenziDerm MD Review

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

ClenziDerm MD sent me their acne solutions to review for you. As you probably know by now, I’m lucky enough to not suffer from acne. I do, however, get a breakout here and there so I wanted to see how well these products fared against those pimples!

I didn’t do a before and after picture because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to see closeup pictures of my zits. I usually get ones that my family calls “undergrounders”. They don’t have an opening at the top so you couldn’t pop them, even if you wanted to. (Don’t!!!) They just hurt and get red and are horrible. I got one on the tip of my nose once. My mom called me “Rudolph” for a week! (Go ahead. You can laugh. It’s funny!)  I sure wish I had ClenziDERM back then!! :P

ClenziDERM MD comes with a lotion, a toner, and a moisturizer. I used all three as spot-treatments when zits would rear their ugly heads. In most cases, they were gone by the next morning! A few of the bigger ‘undergrounders’ took a couple days to fade away, but that is way faster than when I used to just let them run their course!

I would recommend ClenziDERM to a friend. Especially if that friend had zits.

Hair Care Products Review

{Press Sample}

I was sent a variety of hair care products to review for you! There are a number of different brands represented here, but I’m going to put them all in one post since they were sent to me in one box. :) (Never say I didn’t do anything logical! LOL!)

This John Freida brush touts that it will help generate full volume. This one took quite a bit of getting used to because I typically use a boar’s hair brush with a wooden handle. The rubber and the plastic of this brush was a huge difference from what I’m used to using. However, once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed using it! It has a knack for bossing my hair around!

Hair2Wear Fishtail Headband. This is a real human hair braided headband to help make your lazier hair days look more put together! I wasn’t able to actually wear this since it’s not the same color as my hair. I have this unnatural red hair and this is a lovely brunette. This is well made and I would buy it if I saw one that matched my hair color better! (Scroll down for a special surprise……)

Philip B Jet Set Precision Control Hair Spray. This hair spray keeps its hold well…until you get rained on. LOL. I wasn’t a big fan of the smell, but otherwise this is a pretty decent hair spray.

Scuni bobby bins in brunette. Who doesn’t need more bobby pins? I know I’ve bought about a million bobbies in my life, but they keep running away. I swear I give them a nice home environment, but they’re all still off somewhere in the wilderness, probably gallivanting around with my missing socks.

These bobbies stayed in my hair well and I’ll definitely look for Scuni next time I’m in the market!

For this look, I used the John Freida brush to create volume whilst blow drying my hair. Then, I used the bobby pins to pull back the hair around my temples. Finally, I used the Philip B hair spray to set the look.

And now for your special surprise! I didn’t model the fishtail braid for you, but my husband did! He even did sexy duckface for you. And he is also a great model for good dental hygiene.

What do you think of these products? Would you try any of these?

Got2B Mind Blowing Review

{Press Sample}

got2be sent me three of their mind blowing styling products to review and share with you! This brand is owned by Schwarzkopf which you already know that I love. They also sent me this adorable makeup bag made by SoHo.

I got the quick style mousse, fast dry hair spray, and quick styling spray.

got2b-mind-blowing-review soho-makeup-bag

The main thing I noticed was how much shinier my hair was when using these products! I used all three each day and was impressed by the shine each day! To ensure that it wasn’t some other product giving me the shine, I changed shampoo and conditioner each day. (This was clearly a very scientific experiment.)

Much to my delight, I got shiny hair each day, regardless of what shampoo and conditioner combo I used.

I am very happy with how my hair looks using these products. My hair and I have a hate-hate relationship. So whenever it looks like I even tried a little bit, I’m happy! You know I’m super happy when I’m compelled to take a selfie using duckface.

To reward you for scrolling all the way to the bottom of this post, you get to see silly face.

You can find got2be in drugstores nationwide as well as online retailers such as Amazon.

Ponilox Review

{Press Sample}

Ponilox sent me their flagship hair accessory to review for you! When I’m feeling lazy, I normally use a butterfly clip to pull back my hair. However, the 90’s called and asked for their hair accessory back. Good thing Ponilox contacted me!! I was going to have to use an ugly rubberband!!!

The box came with two Ponilox accessories – a tortoiseshell and a black one, both with rhinestones.

The teeth of the Ponilox help keep the barrette in place leaving more room for experimentation than with a typical barrette.

The barrette piece simply unlatches from the comb on one side for easy use and placement.

Here is a suggested hair style. This postcard is included in the box with your purchase.

Here is what the front looked like. Since my hair was going to be up, I went with a bold red lip to ensure there was something to look at for your viewing pleasure. ;)

Ready for my first-ever back-of-the-head photography session?? It was so hard to photograph! LOL!

I got quite a few compliments when I wore this to work! Little do they know it was so easy! And I didn’t even wash my hair! *gasp*

I did redo it a few times throughout the day as my hair began to loosen. This is something I’m used to doing with such fine hair. If you have thicker hair with a little more texture, it’s quite possible you wouldn’t have to touch this up at all throughout the day.

I’m pretty excited about this new hair accessory and I’m glad Ponilox sent it my way. It makes a lazy hair day super easy without looking like you put zero effort in. I’m all about looking like I put in effort when I actually put in zero effort. It’s my typical MO!

Thanks for stopping by to read my Ponilox review! What do you think of it? Is this something you’re going to put into your hair style toolkit?

Gallany Blushing Lipstick

{Press Sample}

Gallany sent me their cream lipstick in Blushing to review for you! I first discovered Gallany in an Ipsy bag a few months ago and I became an instant fan. The lipstick formula is so creamy and the color payoff is gorgeous!

Blushing is a rosy nude. This is a fantastic color for daytime. It gives that healthy glow of color without being in-your-face-omg-look-at-her-makeup.

I paired Gallany Blushing with eyeshadow from the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette.

Vaseline Spray Moisturizer Review

{Press Sample}

Vaseline sent me a bottle of their new continuous spray lotion. The day before they contacted me, I saw a commercial on Hulu so I was very curious about it! This lotion moisturizes and absorbs in seconds. The first time I used it, I used WAY too much. A little goes a long way!!

It has micro-droplets of Vaseline Jelly and aloe which makes this lotion feel amazing on dry skin like mine. The spray nozzle makes it convenient to get harder-to-reach areas like the middle of your back!

Another bonus of the spray nozzle is that you can chase your husband around the house, trying to moisturize his dry skin from a distance…

One downside of the spray application is that it can get places other than your skin. For example, your bathroom counter, cell phone, or toilet. You’ll want to make sure you’re holding the bottle close enough so residual spray doesn’t get everywhere! :P

I wanted to include a photo of me using the spray, but let’s have some real talk. I use it daily when I get out of the shower, before I get dressed. And nobody needs to see a picture of that! I still want you to come visit me! I enjoy your company! Therefore, I will not scare you away!

I would recommend this product, especially for taking to the beach, camping, or other summer outings. It absorbs quickly and is very soothing!

You can win your very own bottle of Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe Spray Moisturizer!! It’s one of the many amazing prizes in this month’s epic giveaway!

Schwarzkopf Ultime for Fine and Limp Hair

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Schwarzkopf sent me a huge haul of their new Ultime collection for fine and limp hair. I was thrilled when I opened the package and saw I was going to be able to try so many differen products. My fine, limp hair really hates product so it takes a lot of testing to find something that doesn’t make me look like a wet, homeless dog.

Pictured from left to right, Conditioner, Shampoo, hair-filler serum, hair spray, mousse, dry shampoo, daily serum spray, root lifter spray, and magic volume powder.

For my first trial, I used both the shampoo and the conditioner in the shower. While my hair was still wet, I used the Superb Volume Mousse and the Hair-Filler Serum. Let me say that all of these products smell wonderful!!! After styling my hair with a blow dryer, round brush, and a curling iron, I dabbed a touch of the Magic Volume Powder into the roots and roughed them up a bit.

I am so happy with the volume in my hair! Usually, it’s quite flat! Not only that, but the volume lasted all day – and I’m talking about a 91 degree, humid day!! This is a fine and limp hair person’s dream!

For the second day of testing, I used the hair-filler serum, hair spray, and daily serum spray. I don’t feel like I got the same amount of volume as day 1 so I’ll have to try a different combination.

For the third day, I used the daily serum spray and the root lifter spray. I think I got a lot more volume with this combo than on day 2.

The fourth day, I used the mousse, daily serum spray, and the root lifter spray. This just may be my favorite combo yet!

I LOVE This collection. It was pretty tricky of Schwarzkopf to send this to me because now I’m going to be a permanent customer. I want my hair to look like that ^^^ all the time! I have still been using this on a daily basis! Any makeup look posts you see in the coming weeks and months will all be with hair thanks to Schwarzkopf!

The Ultime collection has different lines for different hair types so even if your hair isn’t fine and limp like mine, there is still going to be something to address your hair care needs.

Toilet Tree Professional Skin Care System

{Press Sample}

Toilet Tree sent me their Professional Skin Care System to review. I didn’t accept the review right away because I was worried that brushing my face every day would irritate my very sensitive skin. When the Toilet Tree representative told me that there is a sensitive skin brush and a pumice stone brush, I was sold!

The day I got the brush in the mail, I put it together (read: inserted batteries and put on a brush head) and showed my husband. He asked if it was a sonicare for my face!! LOLOLOL! We then proceeded to have fun tickling each other with the rotating brush. (It was on our hands, people! Our hands! Get your head out of the gutter! Sheesh!)

I have been using this every morning and night for about a week. And. I. Love. It. It feels sooo good! The bristles are soft enough so they don’t irritate the skin, but they are stiff enough to massage and exfoliate. My skin was noticeable brighter after using this.

My second favorite attachment is the pumice stone. Dry skin comes with dry feet! I really enjoyed using this to massage the rough spots on my feet. Not only did it feel great, put it smoothed them out as well!

My favorite attachment of them all is the large body brush. It feels fabulous in the shower and it’s become a permanent fixture for me.  I squirt a little body wash on it and let the rotating bristles do the rest. It’s better than a loofah! The handle lets me get to the middle of my back and it gets all my itches out. :P

This little device feels so luxurious and I look forward to using it at the end of each day and in the shower in the morning. It’s not even expensive! I was checking out their site and I see it sells for $34.95 which isn’t bad at all! It also comes in different colors! (Should I be sorta mad they didn’t send it to me in pink? lol!)

The first night I used it, my makeup did stain the bristles a bit. After that, I started washing my face and then used the brush after. There’s nothing bad or wrong about staining the bristles…I’m just weird and like to keep things looking new. (An impossible task, I know!)

Thanks again to Toilet Tree for sending this my way! What do you think? Would you try a little gizmo like this?

Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette

{Purchased By Me}

I got my hands on the Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette!! I haven’t ever done a smokey eye before…but the sheer fact that this was marketed as part of the Naked collection made me want to get it. I’ve loved every Naked palette that Urban Decay has put out.

This packaging is a hard plastic, which is different than the other Naked palettes. It also comes with a card that helps with ideas for some different looks.

Look! The family is complete!

This was the first look I attempted with the Naked Smoke palette. I used almost half the shades! LOL! I used: Thirteen, Hugh, Password, Smolder, and Black Market.

The second look I went for used the browns in the palette. This is a very similar look that you can achieve with the original Naked palette. I used: Thirteen, Combust, Whiskey, and High.

I am glad I bought this palette. I know I would have skipped it if it hadn’t been part of the Naked collection. The shades are easy to work with, per usual with Urban Decay. I will have more posts with eye looks using this palette as I play around with it.

Lovely Skin Skincare Review

{Press Sample}

Lovely Skin sent me two of their skin care products to review for you! I enjoyed reviewing their YoungBlood Primer so I was happy to review their cleanser and moisturizer.

The Gentle Cream Cleanser smells quite fresh and clean. It’s made with meadowfoam seed extract and olive oil extract so your skin doesn’t get dried out from the cleansing. This is really important to me since I have pretty dry, sensitive skin. I really have to baby my skin which makes me quite conservative about what skincare products I am willing to review.

The Mattifying Antioxidant Moisturizer has a bit of a strange smell that I can’t quite pinpoint. I was worried when I saw it was mattifying. Usually mattifying lotions dry my skin out a ton and I have to put a different moisturizer on afterwards. I’m happy to say that didn’t happen with this one. My skin didn’t feel quite as moisturized as when I use my usual moisturizer, but it didn’t feel like the Sahara Desert. I did not feel like I needed to put something else on top! If you have very dry skin, like me, you might want to try one of Lovely Skin’s non-mattifying moisturizers. This one would be great for someone with normal to oily skin.

Here is a shot of what the cleanser looks like. That is my real bathroom counter! My dad installed it for us after we bought the house. :)

And here is the moisturizer right before I used it  for the first time.

I used both these products daily for a week before writing this review. Since I have such sensitive skin, sometimes new products will give me a rash after a few days of use. (Nothing is sexier than a rash all over your face!) I’m happy to report that my skin feels great after a week of use with no rash in site. It seems slightly brighter and smoother which means my makeup looks better, too. :)

Michael Todd Eye Eraser Duo

This post is sponsored by Michael Todd who has an exclusive eye-eraser duo available only at This is a never-before-seen application system. The eye eraser uses sonic, ionic, and thermal technology to apply the eye cream deeply and evenly. The sonic technology replaced the need to rub your eyes with gentle massaging. The ionic technology carries the cream’s ingredients under the skin’s surface where they are most needed. Finally, the thermal technology warms up and opens the pores while also increasing circulation, which will enhance your skin’s absorption of the anti-aging cream.

The duo comes with a AAA battery which you will insert into the applicator. This is how the applicator is powered. When you hold the metal edges and touch the applicator to your skin, it begins to vibrate and warm up.

The instructions state to spend a minute on each eye. You can put the cream on the applicator or right under your eye and then use the vibrating applicator to spread it around and allow it to soak in.

This was a very strange way to apply eye cream, but I have to admit, I really enjoy it. (Note: In the photos below, I am simply modeling the device. In reality, I apply the cream to clean, dry skin. I just didn’t think you needed to see makeup free pictures! :) )

The warmth of the applicator was very soothing and I felt refreshed after using it. It took a little getting used to, after all we don’t typically put vibrating, warm things near our eyes. After the first few applications, it became one of my favorite parts of my morning routine!

The Eye Eraser Duo can also be used on other areas of the face, such as around the mouth to reduce smile/frown lines.

Thanks again to Michael Todd and for sponsoring this post and sending me the Eye Eraser Duo to test out. So head to your nearest Ulta and get yours!

Orly Epix Review

{Purchased By Me}

Orly has released a new formula called Orly Epix. I took advantage of Sally Beauty Supply’s June promo of buy 2 get 1 free to get a nice little sampling of this new line. The claim is that the formula will self repair dents and smudges until the polish is dry.

My first impression on the first coat was love. I was very impressed with the formula! It was buttery smooth and just the right consistency. Even if the “self repairs dents” claims didn’t hold true, I would still buy more of this line just because the formula is so great. I did do a dent test by pressing my fingerprint into a slightly damp nail. It did, indeed, self repair! Amazing! Not only that, but it dried really fast.

This is Orly Box Office Smash and is a lovely pink. Two easy coats and one coat of the special topcoat.

The special top coat does have a strange smell. I’m not sure how to describe it, exactly. It is almost a rubbery smell.

Orly Silver Screen is a metallic silver with an almost olive green tint to it.

Orly Green Screen is a light duochrome aqua color. I’m not sure why it’s called Green Screen. It’s an aqua chrome kind of color. It also doesn’t match the bottle color at all. However, it’s freakin’ gorgeous and I love it!

Orly Melodrama is a dark cobalt blue with tiny shimmer flecks. Another gorgeous winner from this line.

I will certainly be picking up more from this line. The formula is a dream and the colors are gorgeous! What do you think? Have you tried this new formula yet?

NYC Patriotic Makeup Look

{Press Sample}

NYC sent me two of their CityProof 24 hour waterproof eyeshadow sticks to celebrate the 4th of July! These chubby eyeshadow sticks glide on quite smoothly and the color payoff is fabulous!

I used both eyeshadows in this look. Snowflakes was used all over the lid, all the way up to the brow bone. Then, I used Romance along my eye line and smudged it up a bit at the ends. I used my fingers and a stiff brush to blend the two together. The lipstick is NYC Red Suede which I got as a press sample a month or so ago.

I’m not the kind of person to do super crazy makeup looks which is why I don’t have the blue going all the up or all over the lid. (My name is not Mimi!) But I really like this blue as a little accent color. It is a nice, festive look without looking like I’m in costume makeup.

Please have a fun AND SAFE 4th of July. If you have pets, make sure they are secure in your house. Many animals are lost on the 4th of July because they panic and try to escape the house. Keep your furbabies safe by closing windows, doors, gates, and fences. You may want to keep them locked up in a room even though you might usually let them roam free.

We will be medicating one of our three dogs (Kirby, the white one) as he unreasonably panics. We also always stay home because he’s so scared! Poor baby!

Soufeel Charm Bracelet Review

{Press Sample}

Soufeel sent me this lovely charm bracelet with four charms to review for you. Soufeel allowed me to pick out the charms and I can tell you that their site is easy and friendly to navigate! They are based in China, but offer shipping worldwide. They even have free shipping promotions! Some of their promotions are: When you spend $59, $79 or $99, you will get a pair of free earrings, a free charm and enjoy free sterling silver bracelet!  They offer free shipping worldwide with orders over $50 and 365-day return and exchange guarantee.

You can get a discount on your order by using the code Anne5off

Once shipped,  I received the parcel in 11 days (that’s actual days, not business days). Considering it came from China, that is quite fast! When I first opened the package, it was like I had literally received a present. It comes in a sturdy box with velvet lining and a bow on top! This saves you (or your loved one) time and money on gift-wrapping! ;)

All the Soufeel charms arrived in their own plastic baggies which helps ensure they make it unscathed across the world.

The first charm I picked out is this purse charm. I love purses so obviously I need one on my charm bracelet! It has a bow with purple rhinestones embedded to give it that extra bling. soufeel-charm-purse

The next charm I selected was from their new arrivals section. This is a blue martini glass. I’m totally a martini girl. I tried really hard to be a wine drinker, but wine just makes me tired. Vodka makes me fun. ;)

The third charm is a glass bead with color pops inside. This, too, is from the new arrivals section.

My final charm is this adorable dog charm. I have three dogs and I’m totally crazy about them. Dogs are a large part of my identity so I was so happy when I saw Soufeel had a dog charm!

As mentioned above, the bracelet comes with a velvet-lined case. It also comes with a silver polishing cloth, which will come in handy considering the bracelet and its charms are silver! (Note: Dog hair not included with orders.)

The bracelets come in a few different sizes so I do recommend actually measuring your wrist. When in doubt, size up. The bracelet I chose is one of the bangle styles so it will retain its circular shape while on my wrist.

The more I wear this bracelet, the more I love it. At dinner last night, I couldn’t stop talking about it to my husband. In fact, I have emailed him the link to Soufeel’s website!! I told him I want presents from there!

In case you’re wondering…yes, these charms fit on other popular charm bracelets. For example, one that rhymes with Jandora. ;) But at a fraction of the cost, you can have a gorgeous bracelet…without sacrificing quality.

Thanks again to Soufeel for thinking of me when they were looking for a blogger to write a Soufeel Charm Bracelet Review. I am officially addicted to looking at their website.

tl;dr: Awesome bracelet. Buy one.

Beauty 360 and Pop-Arazzi

{Press Sample}

Beauty360 sent me two products and two Color Pop polishes to share with you! These brands are available at CVS.

Pop-Arrazi Shell Me More is a minty green cream. I used two coats for this swatch. It self leveled well after the second coat (although on the first coat, it did have me nervous!)

Pop-Arrazi Just Beachin’ is a lovely light blue cream polish. Again, this si two coats for this swatch.

These polishes both have an interesting smell. They don’t smell like normal polish, more like Kleancolor and other brands that have that strange, distinct, smell.

Beauty360 also sent me their ergonomic buffer. I rarely, if ever, buff my nails. The rare times I do is when I have a little peeling happening and I want to smooth out the edges so it doesn’t get worse. I can tell you that the design of this is great and as far as buffers go, this seems like it would be a good one!

Beauty360 also sent me their ergonomic nail clippers. I do use clippers when I want to take quite a bit of length of my nails…so I might be giving these a try soon! It’s getting pretty hard to typ these days! :P

Thanks again to Beauty360 and Pop-Arrazi for sharing these products with me! Have you tried either of these brands yet?
