Time For Some Nail Art + Senegence Sunday Update

In this issue:

  • My janky nail
  • Even more team members! What?!
  • New milestone sales number

Today, I have some pretty lazy nail art for your viewing pleasure. I started with OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s (which is from the namesake collection) and simply used some Pueen Water Decals.

I know my crooked nail has been driving some people crazy. (I’m looking at you, smackerlacquer) but I promise it’s growing out and it will be a thing of the past soon. :) So just bear with me.

I’d like to welcome two more people to my amazing LipSense team! Deana and Jenny! That’s a total of 5 people on my team. We’re having a ton of fun and I love getting to know these girls better. Did you know…6 is my favorite number? Do you want to be my 6th team member???

Last week, I told you that my sales so far were at $4,500. Well, just in the last week, my total sales since I started tipped over $5,100. That’s another $600 in ONE week. (And I barely left my house!) Additionally, my commission check in February is going to be over $500 (so far!) Basically, commission checks from Senegence is money you get for doing jack-shit. I’m getting money for things I would be doing anyway and it’s super fucking weird. And awesome.

Music Nail Art Ideas!

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Link}

Woo hoo! It’s Friday!!! This mani is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week, our prompt is “music”. I started this mani with two coats of Zoya Willow which is a black creme. Then, I used Fairytale Finish Fairytale Castle which is a flakie glitter topper. Finally, I used Mundo de Unas White to stamp two designs from Pueen Plate 47.

Pink and Gold Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art features Daily Hues Noelle which is a golden glitter bomb that I swatched for you earlier this week. I love pink and gold together so I used Mundo de Unas Tutti to stamp this floral design from the Pueen Celebration Lace Blossom plate.

Blue Flowers Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Link}

Today’s nail art is a two-tone blue flowers nail art. I started with Dollish Polish It’s Bigger on the Inside from her Doctor Who polish collection. I used the Pueen Lace Blossom Stamping Plate. My stamping polish was Mundo de Unas Pastel Blue.

Pretty Serious Bloody Bride

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

On an online shopping whim, I purchased Pretty Serious Bloody Bride. I seriously just loved the name. Bloody Bride is a very dark jelly that really does look like fresh blood. She has glitters packed in there. Almost like someone bled all over a glitter collection. It’s really fun. But then again, I have a pretty sick sense of humor.

And now we get to a little bit of a disaster. Maybe it goes with the theme? We have a Bloody Bride and a stamping massacre going on here. I used (well…attempted to use) Sally Hansen Liquid Gold to stamp a design from Pueen Plate 46. Things didn’t go so well. LOL. Hopefully you’ll forgive me for this fail and you’ll keep coming to visit me!!

OPI Koala Bear-y Nail Art Skittlette

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

In case you don’t already know, I teach dog training classes. (I’m actually a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.) One day, when I was teaching a private lesson, the woman had on one of the most gorgeous pink polishes I’ve ever seen. Normally, when I ask someone what their polish color is, they have no idea. It’s infuriating, but I’ve come to expect it. Miraculously, this woman knew not only the brand, but the name!!! It was OPI Koala Bear-y and I knew I had to own it. The next time I was at Sally Beauty, I bought myself a bottle!

Isn’t she majestically pink???opi-koala-bear-y-swatch

I decided to do a skittlette nail art design on top of my new favorite pink.  The glitter is OPI Make Light of the Situation, which I sponged on. The rhinestones are from Amazon. (They are wicked cheap and seem to last forever. Are they multiplying in that little container?)

The stamped design didn’t turn out as well as I wished. It’s a design from Pueen plate 49 and I used Konad White as my stamping polish.

Red and Black Stamped Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Zoya Demetria was sent to me as a press sample. She is part of the new Island Fun collection. I love red and black together, so I used Mundo De Unas Black to stamp a design from Pueen Plate 02. Since I was in the mood for a tiny splash of pizazz, I also added some black rhinestones at the base.

Make sure to subscribe via email or bloglovin‘ so you don’t miss a post!

Pink and Blue Skittle Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I seriously can’t get enough skittles lately. I know that I do lots of stamping, and many people enjoy that. Well, if you like skittles and you like stamping, then you’re going to love this mani. ;)

I used China Glaze Seahorsin’ Around from the Sea Goddess collection (I believe in 2013). This polish is actually one of the first texture polishes I ever tried and it made me fall in love. I couldn’t get enough of it! And now I’m super worried I’m going to run out!

I also used China Glaze Don’t Mesa with My Heart from this year’s Desert Escape collection. This polish was sent to me as a sample from China Glaze. Finally, I used Mundo de Unas Mexican Pink which is the closes stamping polish I have to Don’t Mesa with my Heart.

The stamping designs are both from Pueen Plate 29 which has a number very girly designs.

Zoya Island Fun Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}{Purchased By Me}

For today’s nail art, I used two coats of Zoya Jace, which was originally sent to me as a press sample. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Taupe and Pueen Plate 01 to stamp the design.

Metallic Purple Nail Art

{Press Sample{{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Link}

For this mani, I started with two coats of Zoya Serenity, which was originally sent to me as a press sample. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Metallic Purple and Pueen Plate 01 to stamp the design. You can see my nails are a touch too long for this image. To combat this in the future, I could make the bare gap be at the tips and then use french tips to cover it up. ;)

Sally Girl Trapeze Artist Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

This mani starts with three coats of Sally Girl Trapeze Artist (which was available in April at Sally Beauty Supply stores). I used Mundo de Unas Lilac and a design from Pueen Plate 61 to create the design shown below.

I usually like Sally Girl polishes but the formula on this one was really hard to work with. It was gloopy and streaky at the same time. Three coats were necessary because of its jelly base, but since it was so gloopy, three coats used up about 1/3 of the bottle. Oh well!

Here’s the design I ended up with.

Ivy Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}{Purchased by Me}

This mani starts with two coats of Ellison’s Organics Once Upon a Dream which was sent to me as a press sample. Then, I used Pueen plate 55 and Mundo de Unas Lime to stamp the leaves on top.

I think this is an interesting color combination. I wouldn’t normally pair a neon with a holo but somehow, I think it’s working.

Enchanted Polish Unicorn

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I was lucky enough to get Enchanted Polish Unicorn a little while back. I don’t even know how to describe it so I think I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

A lot of the Enchanted Polishes from this collection look similar, especially the green-toned ones. However, I’m quite pleased I got them all because then I won’t be worried about running out. ;P

I used Mundo de Unas Black and Pueen Plate 54 to stamp this simple design on top. There’s just something quite attractive about black stamped on top of metallic/chrome polishes.

Mango Bunny Polish Pink and Purple Mani

{Press Sample}{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Mango Bunny Polish sent me their debut collection last December to swatch for you. Today, I’m going to use Mango Bunny Polish Pinkie Sense for some nail art! I did three thin coats of Pinkie and then used Mundo de Unas Velvet to stamp a design from Pueen Plate 88.

I think this pink and purple nail art is great for spring and summer manis! I wore this mani when I had a lunch date with one of the owners of MBP, Ed! I couldn’t go to a lunch date with an indie maker and not wear their polish! That would have been a total faux pax! :P Luckily, Ed approved of this mani. :)

FingerPaints Pink Pigment Roses Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I picked up FingerPaints Pink Pigment at Sally Beauty during their March weekend BOGO Free sale. Woohoo! Free polish! I needed three coats of Pink Pigment as it is a pretty sheer polish. I then used Mundo de Unas Black and a roses design on Pueen Plate 80 to create this roses nail art design.

There is something about this one that I just don’t like very much. I’m not sure what it is. The execution of the stamping is ok and pink and black usually look great together. But there is just something off about this one, in my opion.

Here is a plain swatch of Pink Pigment. You can see how sheer it is – even with three coats.

R-Rated Mani

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s mani is subtly r-rated so if that might offend you, I recommend you skip this post! :) This mani starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Cinny Sweet which is a cranberry sugar shimmer.

Pink and Blue Flowers Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Link}

I was at the grocery store and much to my delight, I saw they started carrying Milani!!! I knew Milani was coming out with a ‘fierce foils’ collection so when I saw the brand, I scoured the endcaps looking for the new collection displays. Like a spotlight shining down from the heavens, I found the fierce foils!!! I adopted all six! Today, my nail art starts with two coats of Milani Fierce Foils Venice. Venice is a cobalt blue with hint of pink shimmer. For the stamping design, I used Mundo de Unas Neon Pink and Pueen Plate 93.

I have on a matte topcoat because I thought the foil looked really pretty matted.

Here’s a plain swatch of Venice with a glossy topcoat.

I meant to show you a plan swatch picture after I put on a matte topcoat…but I totally forgot. So hopefully you can kinda see what it looks like in the nail art pictures, since those are matted! :)

Swirly Nail Art using Pretty Serious Khepri’s Amulet

{Purchased By Me}{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Earlier this month, Pretty Serious sent me their new Naileontology collection to swatch for you. I quickly fell in love with Pretty Serious Khepri’s Amulet which is a teal duochrome. I love the look of black stamped on duochromes so I grabbed Mundo de Unas black and Pueen Plate 77 for this design.

I really loved wearing this one. It really speaks to my usual aesthetic.

Did you notice my new facelift for this site? What do you think?

Love, Angeline Polish Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of Love, Angeline Emeralds are a Girl’s Best Friend. I stamped using Mundo de Unas Papyrus and a design from Pueen Plate 86. Emeralds was in the February 2015 Beauty Quartet box.

I’m not a big fan of this look and I ended up taking it off right away. I’m not totally sure why I don’t like it. Perhaps just the wrong color combo for the design?

OPI This Color’s Making Waves Fishnet

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I have a wonderful mother in law who used her professional nail tech card to get me into CosmoProf! I picked up a few selections from the new OPI Hawaii collection. Today’s feature is OPI This Color’s Making Waves. This is two coats. Making Waves is a hard color to describe. It has a duochrome element to it. There is a shift between green and blue. BUT, it also has a subtle shimmer to it! So I hereby dub this finish as duochromimmer.

I wasn’t feeling too well the night I did this mani, so I opted for the lazy girl’s nail art – water decals! These fishnet decals are from Pueen. Decals can be a real lifesaver because they give you a nail art look without the effort of nail art.

Two Tone Green Stamping Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

This green stamping nail art starts with two coats of OPI My Gecko Does Tricks from the Hawaii collection. The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Military Green and the design is from Pueen Plate 74. I was lucky enough to snag Gecko when my mother in law used her top-secret handshake to get me into CosmoProf. At first, I wasn’t that impressed, but when I saw new OPI bottles for half price…well…let’s just say I’ll be extra nice to my mother in law from now on! ;)

One of my favorite stamping combinations is a two-tone one. This is also one of my husband’s favorite manicure’s I’ve done. That cracks me up because sometimes I feel like two-tone stamping is my easy way out of having to think too hard. :P To really make a two-tone mani pop, mix different shades of the same color, but also different finishes. I like this look because the cream jumps off the metallic background and has a nice contrast.

Here’s a plain swatch of OPI My Gecko Does Tricks. It’s a metallic green and one that I might just have to wear on St. Patrick’s Day since it’s so pretty. I used two coats and I have no formula issues to report. (Obviously…I have never had formula issues with OPI.)

Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection Pick

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I couldn’t help myself. When I saw Morgan Taylor The Best Ball Gown Ever at CosmoProf, I had to get it. It just looked so pretty! I’m boycotting most Cinderella collections because the movie looks so boring. Don’t get me wrong – it looks well done and the dresses and makeup are beautiful, but there doesn’t appear to be any sort of new ideas involved. Based on the previews, it looks just like the Disney cartoon, but live action. I love the Disney cartoon, but do I need to see it IRL with hardly a script change? No. I do not. I hope I’m wrong and that it’s the best movie ever…so if you see it, let me know!

Morgan Taylor The Best Ball Gown Ever is a light blue duochrome that shifts to a greenish gold.

This is two coats. Based on the color in the bottle, I expected this to lean more blue. Once it is on the nail, it leans a lot more greenish gold no matter what angle I hold my nails!

For a little nail art, I used Konad Princess Pink and a design from Pueen plate 97.

Green and Purple Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Link}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of Philly Loves Lacquer The Best Day of the Year which is from the February 2015 Beauty Quartet box. The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas High Green and the design is from Pueen Plate 86.

I’m starting to read Doug Schoon’s book Nail Structure and Product Chemistry. It’s meant for nail technicians, which I am not, but I do have a thirst for knowledge! It will also help me answer more nail-related questions which I’m excited for. Did you know that your nails grow at different rates? As a general rule of thumb (hahahaha), the longer the finger, the faster the nail grows! This isn’t true 100% of the time because there are other factors, but I certainly thought it was an interesting tidbit!

I love how crisp this green is! I must admit, I’m pretty impressed…Almost worth the smell that MDU polishes are known for!

Word Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Link}

For today’s mani, I started with two coats of Smokey Mountain Lacquer Pleasure in Your Base which is from the February 2015 Beauty Quartet Box. The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Copper and the foreign words are from Pueen Plate 86.

There are a number of different languages on this plate–but I’m naive and can’t identify them! How embarrassing is that? I’m pretty sure there is french and Russian or German. No full words are showing, though. The night before I did this mani, I trimmed my nails down quite a bit. Too much, I think. I miss my longer nails! I still have quite a bit of free edge here, but not what I’m used to. I guess the plus side is that it’s easier to type now?

Dollish Polish It’s Bigger on the Inside

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

When I discovered that Dollish Polish had a polish called It’s Bigger on the Inside, I had to buy it, of course! This mani is two coats of It’s Bigger and then I used Mundo de Unas Fuchsia and a design from Pueen Plate 84.

Here is a plain swatch of Dollish Polish It’s Bigger on the Inside. It looks just like a starry night sky which is totally perfect for a polish inspired by the TARDIS!! I’m rewatching all the revamp episodes of Doctor Who now. Matt Smith drives me bonkers. I pine for David Tennant! At least I like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. He’s quite a bit more sophisticated than Smith.
