Today I have the August 2016 Ipsy bag to show you! This might be one of the cutest bags we’ve ever received from Ipsy! The 5 items I received are also pretty great this month, too.

Ciate Spinning Teacup is a nice creamy lilac. This is two coats.ciate-spinning-teacup

This month, I will use all these items! (Just like last month, actually!) I think this means that Ipsy has been doing a really great job lately!

Purple and Gold Striping Tape Nail Art

Today’s mani is the day where I get to pose with awkward bottles! Hooray! Awkwardness! For this mani, I used Nicole by OPI Feeling Very Cherry which I got in last month’s Ipsy bag. I also used Ciate Ladylike Luxe which I received in a polish swap on Facebook.

First, let’s look at some plain swatches of these two fall beauties.

Ciate Ladylike Luxe is a shimmery gold shade. This is two coats. I’m not sure I 100% like this gold on me, but the quality is fantastic.

Nicole by OPI Feeling Very Cherry looks black, but it’s actually a suuuuuuuupeeeeerrrr dark purple. And it’s perfect for this time of year! This is two coats.

And now let’s look at some striping tape art!

Ciate Pinkaboo Swatch

I got Ciate Pinkaboo in a swap from a Facebook group. It is a pink jelly with tinsel glitters. I don’t know if that’s the real name of these glitters, but since they are silver bars, they totally look like tinsel so that’s what I’m calling them. I wanted to like everything about this polish. It’s pink, it has sparkles, it’s a jelly…all the elements of polish that I like. But for some reason, once I got it on my nails, I frickin’ hated it. I don’t know why! I couldn’t get this one off fast enough. There is something about it that I hate! Isn’t that weird? What do you think of this one?

Cheerful Blue and Yellow Stamping Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I needed a little cheerful nail art so it was perfect that the second prompt in this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge is “yellow”! I have had Ciate Kaftan sitting on my desk in my untrieds lineup for quite a while. So, I decided to finally pick it up and use it! It’s a sunshine yellow with golden shimmers. Ciate is sold at department stores like Nordstrom as well as Sephora. Once dry, I used Bundle Monster blue stamping polish and a design from the red Cici&Sisi plate set to stamp this design.  I always forget that blue and yellow make green. LOL. So the stamping design looks more green than blue, but I still think this mani looks pretty cheerful!

First, let’s take a look at Kaftan on its own. I love the brushes that come in Ciate polishes. They are nice and square and flat. Those are the brushes that are the easiest to use for me. They also make it so I need little to no cleanup. It’s the same style you’ll find in OPI or Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes.

I also started using an new pre-photo cuticle product. I really like it! It’s Nail Butter which I first read about on The Nailasaurus Blog. It smells lemony and has a texture very similar to Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, but it’s not nearly as greasy and soaks in super fast. Hooray!

ManGlaze Matte is Murder and Ciate Silhouette

Thanks to TJ Maxx, I was finally able to try Ciate nail polish. I just couldn’t justify the retail prices for it. I’m glad I tried it for $6.99 and not it’s usual $14 pricetag because….it’s just nail polish! :D The formula was good and the color is gorgeous, but it’s not anything better than my usual Sally Hansen. :) I used Ciate Silhouette as a base for this nail art. Then, I used my trusty striping tape in random patterns I painted ManGlaze Matte is Murder on top. I gently pulled off the striping tape and this was the result! I like the vampy look of these two polishes together!

Here is Ciate Silhouette on its own. It’s a dark, dark purple with tiny shimmers in it. I thought it looked more red in the bottle, but I really think it looks purple once it’s on.
