Enchanted Polish Sweet Mint Dupes?

{Purchased By Me}

When I first swatched Enchanted Polish Sweet Mint, it reminded me a lot of China Glaze For Audrey. I wanted to do a side-by-side comparison of the two. As I was going through my polish drawers, I spotted China Glaze At Vase Value which also looked quite similar!

As I put the bottles side-by-side, I could see that my memory might have been playing tricks on me. These remind me of one another, but they don’t even look like dupes in the bottle. They are similar, but certainly not the same. At Vase Value is the full size CG and For Audrey is the mini.

Can you figure out which bottle(s) painted which nail(s)???

If you take out my pinkie, I actually have a pretty perfect ombre effect happening!

SuperGirl Nail Art using Born Pretty Store Supplies

{Press Sample} {Affiliate Links}

The Born Pretty Store sent me these Superhero Decals to review for you! They also sent me these lightening bolt tip guides. I couldn’t help but make these into a manicure together!! I started with two coats of Mentality Gumdrop which is a cheerful blue holo. Once dry, I used the lightening bolt tip guides at the tip and painted China Glaze Seeing Red on top. Then, I pulled off the tip guides. You can see that I had a little trouble with bleeding where the lightening bolt changes angles. I tried super hard to keep the guide flat on my nail, but it kept happening.

Lastly, I soaked the decals in water per the directions and applied them in the blue area. In general, I like how this mani turned out, but I wish the red line was a lot crisper. It looks the best on my two middle fingers. (And of course my thumb which I don’t show in pictures! LOL!)

Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds Nail Art

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Today’s prompt from the Challenge Your Nail Art Facebook group is “Halloween TV or Movie Inspired”. I love old horror movies and Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds is one of my favorites. To me, this is such a scary movie because nothing very supernatural happens. Birds flock en mass….which happens in real life….and they attack people….which happens in real life. Seriously. Don’t ever walk by a crow’s nest. Those birds will absolutely attack you. So Alfred Hitchcock takes something that happens naturally in life and then just expands it a little. And it becomes terrifying. I still can’t see a power line full of birds without thinking of this movie! Genius!

For this nail art, I started with two coats of China Glaze But of Corpse which I originally received as a press sample. Then, I used Konad Black and Vivid Lacquer plate VL018 to stamp the designs.

Pumpkin Faces for Challenge Your Nail Art!

Today’s art is for the Challenge Your Nail Art October challenge! Today’s prompt is pumpkin faces! I started with two coats of China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and put on two coats of China Glaze Ghoulish Glow. Once dry, I used Konad Special Black and Cici&Sisi Halloween Plate to make the pumpkin faces. I did use these faces in a previous post’s design but I liked them so much that I used them again!

I’m going to show you the glow in the dark picture first! Because I think it looks so cool! And kinda creepy…especially that face with the sharp teeth!

China Glaze Feeling Twinkly vs. Dorothy Who?

When I got my press samples of the China Glaze Twinkly Holiday 2014 collection, I couldn’t help but notice that China Glaze Feeling Twinkly looked a lot like China Glaze Dorothy Who?….at least in the bottle! So I did a quick side-by-side for you guys.

So in the bottle, these look remarkably similar. Not quite the same, but close enough where you wonder if you need both.

However, once you get them on the nails, you can see they’re not even close at all.

China Glaze Apocalypse of Colour Collection

{Press Sample}

China Glaze sent me the Apocalypse of Colour collection which is a fun and festive collection of hilariously named polishes!

The collection consists of 6 polishes. Five are new and one, Ghoulish Glow, is released every year! Let’s take a look at each one of these individually!

China Glaze Breast Cancer Awareness Mani

China Glaze recently released a Breast Cancer Awareness collection. Most of them are re-promotes. I saw the display in Sally Beauty and saw one I couldn’t live without. China Glaze Strawberry Fields! It’s freaking gorgeous and I don’t know how my collection was surviving without it. It’s a hot pink creme jam packed with golden shimmers. Just stunning! I’m not going to blibber blab at you about it, I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves.

I used Sally Hansen Liquid Gold to stamp on top. This polish is no longer available, at least not in most places. I used a design from Cici&Sisi and my new firm stamper from Messy Mansion.

I picked gold stamping to complement the gold shimmers in Strawberry Fields. I hope you like today’s nail art and don’t forget to do self breast exams! If you need to, ask your significant other to help. At least that’s what my RN told me! ;) :P

Holo Stamping Nail Art

For today’s nail art, I decided to do some holo stamping. I started with two coats of China Glaze Feel the Breeze from the Off the Shore collection. The formula on this one was a little tricky. You can see some thin spots in the swatch photo below. But, after two coats and a top coat, it’s not really that noticeable. Then, I used Color Club Over the Moon to stamp a design from Cici&Sisi Plate 01.

China Glaze Feel the Breeze is a light baby pink. It looks exactly Pepto Bismol. That is fortunate because I actually love that color.

Girly Mummy Nail Art

I’m still in the mood for Halloween nail art, how about you? Today’s nail art is a twist on the classic mummy nail art! Usually this mani is done with black and white, but I wanted to start with a pink base because that’s just how I roll.  I bought China Glaze Float On at Sally’s on clearance a few weeks ago and had yet to use it. So I decided it was time to give it it’s day in the limelight! Once dry, I used my most favoritest black of of all time – OPI 4 in the Morning. Don’t worry. I won’t run out. I have two backup bottles. Tee hee! And I’m always looking for more! This is a must-have in my opinion. I hardly even consider my other black polishes anymore.

Float On is like a dark Pepto-Bismol color. I think it’s awesome. Side tangent….I can’t believe how long my pointer finger is getting! It’s usually a little, sad nubbin compared to the rest!! I’m so happy! Totally credit to Bliss Kiss Pure Nail Oil. Seriously. That stuff is magical unicorn pee in an applicator brush. Well….I don’t want to oversell it too much, but I do encourage you to check it out. Ana has a ton of great info on her site, here.

Have a wonderful Saturday and thanks for stopping by to look at my fingers today! :P Please tell me what you think! I love reading your comments!

Autumn Nail Art Gradient Leaves

The Crumpet’s Nail Tarts group is switching up the format of our challenges! We used to do tri-polish Tuesday and Golden Oldies Thursday. Now, there are two prompts during the week and it’s much more flexible. You can combine the two prompts, you can do each one individually, and you can require it of yourself to use older polish. I think it will give a lot more room for creativity! This week’s prompts are two color gradient and teal. I decided to combine the prompts this week. I chose Enchanted Polish Autumn which is a duochrome holo that shifts from green to brown. I also picked China Glaze Deviantly Daring which is one of my oldest, and favorite teals.

Since I’ve been obsessed with stamping nail art lately, I decided to put some leaf-like designs on top to give this a fall twist. I used a plate from Cici&Sisi and used Konad Special Black as the polish.

Treasure Map Nail Art!

Today’s prompt for the Pirate Challenge from the Challenge Your Nail Art group is “Treasure Maps!” Since I totally took the easy way out in yesterday’s “gold” post, I decided to actually do some art today!!!! I started with two coats of China Glaze Don’t Honk Your Thorm which is a nice nude color. Then,  I cut out holes in a makeup sponge so that when I dapped polish on, it would be inconsistent. I used China Glaze Mahogany Magic for this. Then, I did it again with Don’t Honk Your Thorn to blend the two colors and give the nail a bit of a distressed look. I wanted my treasure map to be old!!

Then, I used a teeny tiny bit of black around the edges and dapped that on with the used sponge to distress it even more. Finally, I used a nail art brush to draw on treasure-mappy items. I used China Glaze White on White for the dotted line, China Glaze Seeing Red for the “X” and Formula X Black for the mountains. I gave it a map top coat because I’m pretty sure treasure maps aren’t glossy…even if it’s just treasure map nail art! lol!

Aztec Nail Art for GOT

Today’s Golden Oldies Thursday prompt is Burnt Orange/Copper. I selected China Glaze Harvest Moon which is from the 2012 Hunger Games Collection. I don’t think I’ve used it since 2012!! Good to know that nail polish doesn’t expire. ;) I’m obsessed with my Cici&Sisi stamping plates so I picked an image from plate 10 for this mani. I used my blue Bundle Monster Stamping Polish to stamp the design on top.  I didn’t think it was going to become Aztec Nail Art, but I kind of think that the design with the colors I picked looks a little Aztec-y. You might disagree, but that’s what it reminds me of!

Here’s a plain swatch of China Glaze Harvest Moon. It’s a very nice orange-y copper. It’s held up very well over the years. I didn’t even need to put any thinner in it or anything.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy Tips!

For my 30th birthday, Ed from Cross Country Beauty, aka @triceratips, gave me China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. Pretty much the best present ever! This is a staple polish in many collections and I didn’t own it!!!! So now, thanks to her, I do! So please go check out her blog and her Instagram! :D Her suggestion was to try it as neon tips with a nude base. I did just that…and I love it! It’s even husband approved!

I started with two coats of China Glaze Don’t Honk Your Thorn. Then, I taped it off and applied China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy to the tips. It turned out beautifully, even if it’s hard to capture neons on camera!!!

FingerFood Theme Buffet – Music Nail Art!

It’s time for another edition of the FingerFood Theme Buffet Challenge! This week’s theme is “music”. This was a perfect one since I own the perfect Vivid Lacquer stamping plate, number VL015. I started with two coats of China Glaze New Birth, from the new Giver collection. Then, I sponged on a gradient using China Glaze Capacity to See Beyond. Once dry, I used a pink stamping polish (which is a prototype of a FB friend) and Vivid Lacquer plate VL05 to stamp on music themed art. Hope you like it!

Dotted Nail Art for He Picks My Polish!

I can’t believe how fast this month is going by! It’s time for another round of He Picks My Polish!! My “he” is my husband who patiently puts up with this little routine. LOL. This month, he picked Julep Ginger, Julep Evangeline, and China Glaze Sci-Fly By. I started with one coat of Ginger and then used a makeup sponge to create a gradient with Evangeline. Once it dried, I used Sci-Fly By to dot blue dots on top. It’s a color combo I never would have picked myself, but that’s the point, isn’t it? Hope you like it at least a little!!

China Glaze The Giver Swatches Part 2

I swatched six of the China Glaze The Giver collection polishes here, in this post, and I liked my press samples so much that I went out to Sally Beauty to find the rest! These ones were purchased with my own money. :P I even went to three different stores to find them!

China Glaze Release

Release is another in the collection that is in the gray creme family, but has a different undertone. In this case, it’s a very light purple. In the book, release basically means you get whacked. Or at least that’s what I remember from last time I read it! This light purple brings to mind peace, so perhaps that’s the take on this color. Peaceful release.

China Glaze History of the World

History of the World is a dark blue creme. I’m re-reading the book right now, but I haven’t gotten far enough to draw any similarities yet, but the color is rich and gorgeous!

China Glaze The Outer Edge

The Outer Edge is a simple white glitter. I’ve layered it here over History of the World. This is one coat, so you could totally build it up to have a white glitter bomb.

China Glaze Seeing Red

Seeing Red is a creamy bluish red. It’s not quite a classic apple red. I have a ton of reds in my collection, but there’s something about this one that I really like.

China Glaze New Birth

New Birth is another off white in the collection. The first one I swatched like this was Friends Forever, Right? This one is slightly blue-toned but mostly white.

China Glaze Capacity to See Beyond

Capacity to See Beyond is my favorite in the collection. The robin’s egg blue is delightful! It’s so cheerful and hopeful!

And there you have the whole collection! Which one is your favorite?

China Glaze The Giver Swatches

{Press Sample}

China Glaze sent me half of the new China Glaze Giver Collection to review and show you! I announced the original press release in this post and I was very happy when China Glaze offered to send me some!  The Giver was one of my favorite books in middle school. I’m sorry to say that I haven’t read it since middle school! As soon as I’m done writing this post, I’m going to go check it out for my Kindle, though! It’s actually available for only a few dollars right now on Amazon! Ok, without further delay, let’s take a look at this new collection!

Stamping where I Don’t Know What It Is

I joined a new Facebook challenge group where the concept is that you pick one plate from your stamping plates and you have to use each design by the end of the month. Most people picked theirs at random, but I thought it would be fun to have my husband pick! After much deliberation (and comments about how I had millions of plates), he settles on My Online Shop MJ XII. Funnily enough, this was the first one he looked at…. This is the plate that has a few Doctor Who images on it, so you just might see some more Doctor Who in the near future! This plate also has a lot of images that I don’t know what it’s referring to. I’m sure it’s based off some TV show or fandom thing, but I’m not in the loop. Today’s mani is one of those. I picked the faced and the airplanes images. I have no clue if it’s “from” something, but it’s cute so here we go!

China Glaze All Aboard Swatches

While I was at Sally Beauty the other day, I was intrigued by a few polishes from the China Glaze All Aboard collection. They have a lot a gorgeous purples, but surprisingly, I didn’t buy any! I really wanted to try and pull some that were unique to my collection, and I just have ton of purples already! Let’s take a look at what I got.

First, we have China Glaze Lug Your Designer Baggage. This finish appears like worn leather. It’s very cool. This buy was risky for me because Maybelline tried a similar look last year and I hated it. Just hated. But, this is the opposite! I think this looks very cool and for some reason, reminds me specifically of Louis Vuitton bags.

China Glaze Mind the Gap is an olive color with green shimmers. I don’t have anything like this at all so I’m pleased I got it. I almost didn’t because the color didn’t look that attractive in the bottle, but I really like how it looks on! This one is on the sheer side. I show it with two coats, but I think it really needs three as you can still see visible nail nail line.

China Glaze Stop That Train! is an orange-red almost duochrome. It’s kinda shimmery, kinda duochrome. Either way you describe it, I think it’s super pretty.

China Glaze Well Trained is a teal-blue creme. This went on like a dream. I think this is my favorite application of the ones I purchased. It’s also just a classic kind of shade.

China Glaze Choo-Choo-Choose You! certainly has an amusing name. :) It’s a shimmery duochrome. This one deserves two pictures because I want you to be able to see the color shift. It moves from a dark purple to a greenish color. It’s gorgeous!

China Glaze Pop Top Collection!

China-Glaze-Heart-of-Africa{{Press Sample}}

China Glaze recently announced their Pop Top Collection, which I posted about here. They were kind enough to send me a sample of the collection so that I could play around with it and share its glorious glittery-ness with you!

I know that at least three of these are in their core collection, as well they should be! China Glaze White on White is part of this collection, but is also their classic white creme that is a go-to white for many nail polish lovers. Additionally, China Glaze Fairy Dust is in the core collection and is in many, many nail polish lover’s collections. Fairy Dust is pretty much a staple topper! Techno is also part of the core collection. Before I received this sample package, I did not own it. Now that I’ve played with it, I’m so glad it’s here!

Your Present Required is originally from the Holidaze collection. Luxe and Lush is originally from the 2012 Hunger Games collection where it represented District 1. Heart of Africa is from the African Safari Collection. Pizzazz, I believe, is originally from the Holiday Joy collection. Finally, I pink I Can is from the Up and Away Collection.

Some might feel that it’s strange for China Glaze to simply re-promote already released polishes in a new collection. Well, my take on it is that all of these polishes are gorgeous and should be re-looked at for the holidays. I would much rather have a company say, “Yeah, you know what? Here’s Fairy Dust and it’s awesome and we’re going to market it again” than have a company try and pull a fast one on us where they just change the name to “Holiday Sparkle Stuff” and then think we won’t notice. Do you know what I mean? So I’m not even mad. I’m impressed.

So without further ado—let’s take a look at these!
