Seaside Nail Art Ideas

{Purchased by Me}

Good morning!! It’s Friday which means it’s time for another edition of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week’s prompt is “seaside / holidays / beach” and by “holidays,” we mean vacations. :)
I started my mani with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. Once dry, I used a makeup sponge to create a gradient with OPI The I’s Have It! Then, I used some water decals made by Pueen to add the anchors and steering wheels. Yes, I know they’re not called steering wheels. I can’t remember what they’re called on ships!!! What are the wheels called?!

Coral and White Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

Friday means it’s time for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! This week’s challenge is “coral and white” and my assigned nail art technique is “circles.”

I started with Sally Hansen Coral Reef (original formula before they screwed it all up) and waited for it to dry. Then, I found these circle stencils in the bottom of my drawer. It’s been forever since I bought them but they are probably from Polished Vino or Twinkled T. I used Sally Hansen White On for the circles.

Wedding Nail Art Ideas

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s nail art is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is “Wedding nail art.” I had some cute stickers to review from the Born Pretty Store so I thought I’d incorporate those into the look.

1 Sheet Lace Necklace 3D Nail Art Stickers Black Lace Full Nail Stickers Nail DecalsI always think of wedding nail art as quiet and subdued. You don’t want your nails taking over the show because 1. it’s not your show or 2. you ARE the show! That’s why I decided to go for a simply french mani using OPI Can I Bayou a Drink? and OPI Alpine Snow. Then, I put the stickers on top.

This is probably the first time I’ve had to give something from the Born Pretty Story a negative review. I just could not get these to work for me! Even though there are various sizes, none of them fit the shape and curve of my nail quite right.

I like the concept I came up with…but the execution leaves something to be desired. :(

Music Nail Art Ideas!

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Link}

Woo hoo! It’s Friday!!! This mani is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week, our prompt is “music”. I started this mani with two coats of Zoya Willow which is a black creme. Then, I used Fairytale Finish Fairytale Castle which is a flakie glitter topper. Finally, I used Mundo de Unas White to stamp two designs from Pueen Plate 47.

Neon Brushstroke Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}

Today’s mani is for the weekly Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week, everyone will be doing different kinds of neon nail art! My assigned technique is brushstroke. I’ve never done brushstroke nail art before so I was excited to give it a try.

To help the neon pop, I used a base coat of Morgan Taylor All White Now. Some of my favorite neons are the Pipe Dream Polish A Night in Vegas collection, which, I’m sorry to say, is no longer being made. The yellow is Light of Day, the pink is On the List, and the teal is Happy Hour.

I put a drop of polish on an old credit card and lightly brushed a fan brush through it. I swiped on the card back and forth until there was very little polish on the fan brush, and then I put it on the tips of my nails.

I actually really like how this turned out!

Floral Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Link}

Born Pretty Store sent me these floral water decals to review. The timing was perfect because this week’s prompt for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge is “floral!” Hooray!

I started with two coats of Trust Fund Beauty Flirty & Dirty which is a lovely mauve creme. Then, I followed the instructions for the water decals and applied them. You want to make sure your polish is completely dry before apply the decals. You also want to make sure that you pat away an excess water after applying decals and before applying top coat.

40 Nail Art Ideas…Animals

{Press Samples}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s nail art look is for this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. The prompt this week is “animals.” I will admit that I really phoned it in this week. I had grand plans of creating colorful decals and everything…but I just couldn’t find the time. I’m starting my own business (dog training! Woohoo!!) and a lot of my time and resources are being driven toward getting that off the ground. So I hope you will forgive one of the laziest nail arts I’ve ever done. It doesn’t even look that great. (I’m not fishing for compliments here. I think this looks like ass.)

I started with Pretty Serious Nuke the Fridge which by itself is a gorgeous color. I’ll have a whole crapload of Pretty Serious swatches coming up soon. I just got a big box of press samples from them and I’m slowly making my way through it.

The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Taupe and the zebra design is from Cici&Sisi Plate 26.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Pink and Lilac Nail Art

{Press Sample}

Today’s nail art is for the weekly Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is Pink and Lilac. My assigned nail art technique is accent nail. I used two polishes from the new China Glaze Lite Brite collection – I’ll Pink to That and Let’s Jam. I did a french mani and then a reverse of the combo for the accent nail. I also added some water decals for some pizazz.

Great Nail Art Ideas…Purple Zig Zag Nail Art!

{Borrowed}{Purchased by Me}

For the second week in a row, I’m using polishes borrowed from smackerlacquer! The China Glaze polishes are both from the new Lite Brite collection and both are borrowed. The OPI is Love. Angel. Music. Baby. from the old Gwen Stefani collection.

The dark purple China Glaze is We Got the Beet and the light one is Let’s Jam.

This nail art is for this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. We’re all doing violet nail art and my assigned technique is zig zag! Here’s what I came up with.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Spring Nail Art

{Borrowed}{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s post is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 52-week challenge. This week’s prompt is Spring! I used two colors from the China Glaze Lite Brite collection which I borrowed from smackerlacquer. China Glaze I’ll Pink to That is the hot pink polish and China Glaze Lime After Lime is the….lime polish! (I totally bet you didn’t see that coming.) The white on the tips is Morgan Taylor All White Now.

I started with two coats of China Glaze I’ll Pink to That. After it was dry, I used scotch tape at varying angles on my nails and painted Morgan Taylor All White Now and then removed the tape. I let that air dry for a few minutes.

I used my dotting tools (one large and one small) to make the flowers and their little dot trails using China Glaze Lime After Lime. While the flower dots were still wet, I plopped Preciosa Nail Crystals into the center. (These were sent to me as a press sample.)

I’m really quite partial to this look, if I don’t say so myself. I haven’t done anything ‘fancy’ in a long time so it was nice to get some creative juices flowing.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Green Waterfall

{Purchased by Me}{Press Samples}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art is for this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is ‘green’ and my assigned nail art style is waterfall. In hindsight, we probably should have scheduled the green prompt for earlier in the month so you could get some St. Patty’s Day inspiration ideas. Oops! Maybe next year!

via GIPHY

To top it off…the prompt is actually “Three shades of Green”. I used four. #cheater

The polishes I used were Dollish Polish Toss My Salad, Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, Sally Hansen I-rush Luck, and Sally Hansen Seasational.

I learned quickly that when one uses green colors to make a waterfall mani, it actually looks like a grass mani. ;)

Great Nail Art Ideas…Food Nail Art

{Press Samples}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is food nail art! I was going to put some ham on my nails and call it good, but I thought I should do some actual ‘art’. :P Polishes used for this mani are:
Zoya Daisy, Zoya Eden, Zoya Cala, Zoya Talia, Zoya Spencer, and Konad Black.

I made stamping decals using my super awesome Bliss Kiss Miracle Mat. You can read all about how I make water decals in this post here. The designs came from Cici&Sisi Plate 27.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Pastel nail art

{Press Samples}

Today’s nail art is for this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is to do pastel nail art. My assigned technique is watercolor. I’ve never done a watercolor mani before so this was completely new territory! I used four Zoya polishes, all of which were originally sent to me as press samples: Daisy, Rayne, Eden, and Tiana. To help keep the colors as true as possible, I started with one coat of Morgan Taylor All White Now. I used a cosmetic sponge to dab the four Zoya colors in random spots on my nails. Here’s what I ended up getting:

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Fashion Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Press Sample}

Today’s look is for this week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge. This week’s prompt is ‘fashion’. I scoured the internet and today’s fashion nail art is inspired by the look on the left from this post.

I used Zoya Yummy, Zoya Spencer (press sample), Zoya Nyssa (press sample), and Morgan Taylor All White Now. Things didn’t go entirely as planned… I was expecting crisp lines and the vinyls I used didn’t give them to me. Argh! So it would be super great if you would just pretend that they are straight lines instead of the crapfest that is today’s post. :P

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Love

This week’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge prompt is “love”. I really wanted to do something outside the box for this one. I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of pink and red for this prompt and for other nail art throughout the weekend. When I think about love, the first thing I think about is my husband. Obviously I love him or I wouldn’t have married him, right? I think there are a lot of different kinds of love and that each couple feels and shows their love in different ways. My love for George is very calm. I wasn’t nervous at all before our wedding because I just knew that it was the right thing to do. He keeps me grounded, but also knows when to let me just be a total nutbag. He’s the only person in the whole world who can make me laugh when I’m feeling cranky, angry, and a little murdery. He knows exactly what to say to crack a smile from me, relieving the tension. It’s really quite wonderful.

I wanted to do some nail art the symbolized the calmness and peace I feel when he’s around. I used Morgan Taylor All White Now, Zoya Yummy, and Zoya Lillian to create this gradient.

As I was looking at my nail art, it reminded me of one of my favorite pictures from our wedding. The color scheme is pretty similar! I promise it was just a coincidence!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Turquoise Tribal Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased by Me}

Today’s post is for the weekly Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge! The prompt this weeks is Teal/Turquoise. My assigned nail art method is ‘tribal’. I started with two coats of Picture Polish Jade. I used a stamping design from It Girl Nail Art IG106, which was originally sent to me as a press sample. To help keep the design straight and even, I used my new Born Pretty Store clear stamper. You can read my full review here. My stamping polish was Konad Black.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Film Nail Art

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Links}

This week for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge, the prompt is ‘film’. I love Marilyn Monroe films so I decide do do film nail art in honor of her! I made a stamped decal using my Bliss Kiss Miracle Mat and Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L016.

Polishes used for this were:
Konad Black
Zoya Cala (originally sent to me as a press sample)
Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow (original formula)
OPI Coca-Cola Red
Morgan Taylor All White Now

I don’t know what it is about Marilyn Monroe that attracts me so much. I’ve read three or four different biographies on her and I’ve seen as many of her movies as I can get my hands on. I even have cd’s with the songs she sang.  There really is a beguiling allure about her. At least for me!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Three Shades of Purple Nail Art

{Press Samples Used}

Today’s purple nail art is for the Crumpet’s Nail Art challenge. This week’s prompt is 3 Shades of Purple. My assigned nail art technique is tie-dye. I used three cream China Glaze polishes for this. All three had been sent to me as a press sample at some point in the past. The colors used are: In a Lily Bit (light purple), Lotus Begin (medium purple), and Mix and Mingle (dark purple.) I used a dotting tool to dot on the swirls, one color at a time.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Things That Fly

{Purchased by Me}{Affiliate Link}{Press Sample}

Today’s post is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts Challenge. This week’s prompt is “Things that Fly”. I was racking my brain to think of what I should do. I really want to break out of my go-to method of stamping something. I can’t freehand at all and I didn’t even know what I’d draw if I could. I was at a total loss. Then, I realized that the TARDIS flies! Duh! I suddenly got very excited to do this prompt. I did a galaxy mani first (thusly breaking out of my stamping rut). To make the TARDIS, I made a decal using the Bliss Kiss Simply Neat Miracle Mat. (I did a full review on this awesome mat earlier this week.) The TARDIS can be found on My Online Shop Stamping plate Plate XII.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…Pale Blue Base

{Press Sample}

This week for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge, our prompt is “pale blue base”. I selected Mango Bunny Polish Brrr Bunny from their winter collection. This is very close to a Tiffany blue shade.  Brrr Bunny was given to me as a gift/press sample. Then, I used silver striping tape and silver rhinestones to create the design. It ended up looking more like a Tiffany box than I had envisioned in my mind, but I’m totally ok with that!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas…New Year’s Nail Art!

{Purchased by Me}

New Year’s is coming up so the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts challenge thought it would be great to do some nail art ideas for New Year’s! Here is my concept but keep scrolling to see a lot more. I started with three coats of Urban Decay Zodiac which is a black jelly with green glitters. Then, I used OPI My Voice is a Little Norse and sponged it on the tips.

New Year’s is all about out with the old and in with the new. I picked a darker color to represent the old and picked a sparkly glitter to represent the new.

I started with one coat of Pretty Serious Absence and used Revlon Cosmic Flakies as my flakier topper. Then, I used the Pueen Fireworks Festival 2014 stamping plate which had a lovely swirly design on it. The stamping polish was Mundo de Unas White.

At first, I had no idea how I was going to combine swirls and a glitter topper but I actually like what ended up happening here!
