Born Pretty Store Plate BPL006 Checkerboard Nail Art

{Press Sample}

I was sent Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L-006 to show you some of the designs and to review for you! I picked this plate because I was drawn to the beautiful flower designs. You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates.

I wanted to see how the checkerboard pattern would work. I actually like it, but my topcoat messed it up a little bit. It didn’t smear the design so much as it picked up little particles of pink and dragged it over the white so the white doesn’t look crisp and clean.  I used OPI Alpine Snow and Konad Princess Pink.

Hawaiian Blue Flowers Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Purchased By Me}

Today’s nail art has a bit of a Hawaiian feel to it! I started with two coats of Zoya Leslie which was sent to me as a press sample for this post here. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Iris and a design from Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L-005 which was also sent to me as a sample.  You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates. I didn’t mean for it to look tropical, but that’s how it turned out and I really enjoyed wearing it!

zoya-leslie-nail-art

I’ve only been to Hawaii once (in 5th grade….a long, long time ago) but I do have fond memories of it! I haven’t been back because now that I’m a grownup with a house, husband, and dogs it’s much harder to get away! I can’t even imagine how people with kids manage to take any vacation! I guess the main difference is that you have the option of taking your kids with you…while my dogs? Not so much.

Orange and Gold Nail Art using BP-L-005

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

I was sent Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L-005 to show you some of the designs and to review for you! You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates. I picked this plate because I can see myself using pretty much every image on it!!

Wave & Texture Patterns Nail Art Stamp Template Image Plate BORN PRETTY L005 12.5 x 6.5cm

For this mani, I started with two coats of OPI Rollin’ In Cashmere (plain swatches at the end) and then used Mentality Orange Opaque as my stamping polish.

mentality-orange-opaque

I either need to take some length off my nails, or I need to start paying more attention to image sizes!! These are exactly the length of my nails so I had to be super careful when lining them up. And as you can see, I didn’t do so great on my middle one!

born-pretty-store-plate-bp-l-005

As usual, I thought the plate was etched quite well and I had no trouble picking up the image. Surprisingly, these images are a little small for my nails. I seriously never thought I would say that! So I had to be extra careful to make sure that I placed it well. You can see on my pointer finger that I was just a tad off. The image length was exactly the length of my nails! I didn’t do it for this mani, but french tips that match the stamping color can cover up errors like this and look really cool at the same time.

Houndstooth Nail Art using Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L006

{Press Sample}

I was sent Born Pretty Store Plate BP-L-006 to show you some of the designs and to review for you! I picked this plate because I was drawn to the classic designs. You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates.  For this mani, I wanted to test out the houndstooth designdscI started with two coats of Ellison’s Organics Lots of Planets Have a North which is from her awesome Doctor Who nail polish collection.

houndstooth-stamping-plate

The stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Brick which is perfectly named because it’s a great rusty brown red. The houndstooth design transferred very well. This plate is just barely big enough for my nails. I need to start getting bigger images! I never thought I would say that! LOL. I used to have such struggles growing my nails out!

{Press Sample}

I was sent Born Pretty Store Plate 20 to show you some of the designs and to review for you! I picked this plate because I was drawn to the beautiful flower designs. You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates

Mixed Flower Nail Art Stamp Template Image Plate BORN PRETTY 20

This first mani starts with the mixed flowers design. The base color is FingerPaints Wild Bikini and the stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Velvet. I had some smudging but I think that was in my application because the design was clear on the stamper. I got quite a few compliments on it when I wore this to work! Two-tone manicures seem to be pretty popular.

This mani starts with two coats of Glisten&Glow Boylston Street and the stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Red Wine.

bps-stamping-plate-bp20-review

This mani starts with two coats of Glisten&Glow Rebecca vs Diane and the stamping polish is Konad Black. This was another one that got a ton of compliments! The almost stained-glass like flower design was really popular.

I have very pleased with this stamping plate! The images transferred well and there is a nice variety of floral designs to pick from! It does take a long time for shipping  from the BPS but keep in mind that they are shipping from China and international shipping always takes a long time. For the price of these plates, I feel like we’re really getting a good deal.

Merry Christmas Eve!!! Santa Nail Art!

{Press Sample}

Merry Christmas Eve, dear readers! If you don’t celebrate Christmas, then Happy Wednesday. If you do celebrate Christmas, then I hope you are with company and family you enjoy!! These adorable Santa decals were sent to me to review by the Born Pretty Store. I started with three coats of Liquid Sky Lacquer New Beginnings which is a gorgeously frosty glitter. Then, I followed the instructions on the back of the decals, except for the blow-dryer part. I don’t find that part necessary.

I’m visiting my family for Christmas for the first time in 6 years!! For many reasons, we’ve been spending Christmas with my husband’s family so I’m pretty excited to see my family on Christmas.

Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate Review: BP-11

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store sent me this stamping plate to review for you! You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates

I picked this one because I was attracted to the fun, full-nail designs. Here is an image of the plate next to a quarter so you can see the relative sized of the plate and the images. As you can see, the images are quite large and should fit on most nails. The great thing about these images is that they will also work for many short nails as well.

born-pretty-store-stamping-plate-review

For this one, I started with three coats of Digital Nails Special Snowflake. I used Konad Black as my stamper. I think my stamper was acting up during this mani. My pinkie looks great, but the others look a little smudged. Do you ever have days where you feel like you’ve kinda forgotten how to do any nail art right? That’s what was happening this day. I think the plate is great, I was just being a weirdo.

stamping-plate-reviews

For this one, I used Enchanted Polish Holiday 2014 and Konad Red to stamp the star design. You can see I had a little trouble with the pinkie, which is the finger I did first. But, after that, it was easy going!

born-pretty-store-stamping-plates-reviews

For this one, I used Enchanted Polish November 2014 as my base and Konad White to stamp. I was really curious to see how the heart design would do since images that use a lot of polish can be tricky. As you can see, it stamped beautifully!!!! I’m super happy with the heart design in particular. I think it’s my favorite from the plate and I’ll be using it in some Valentine’s Day mani’s next year!

Born Pretty Store Flower Water Decals

{Press Sample}

I received these flower decals from The Born Pretty Store so I could show them to you! These are so easy to use, it’s ridiculous. I always keep a good supply of decals on hand because some nights, you just don’t feel like doing nail art! But I can’t go out in public without nail art! I have a reputation to uphold! Water decals add only 1 minute on to the time it takes to finish a mani! Isn’t that fabulous?? For the base of this mani, I picked China Glaze I’d Melt For You because even though these are flowers, I wanted the mani to look seasonal.

flower-water-decals

This specific pack came with 15 flowers. Most packs seem to come with 20 decals – enough for 2 manicures. I’m not sure what I ‘m going to do with the extra 5. Maybe some accent nails later on?

Born-Pretty-Store-Water-Decals

To be honest, I don’t do the blow-drying part of these instructions. I don’t find it necessary to have successful application of the product. I’m all about removing steps that aren’t totally necessary! :)

SuperGirl Nail Art using Born Pretty Store Supplies

{Press Sample} {Affiliate Links}

The Born Pretty Store sent me these Superhero Decals to review for you! They also sent me these lightening bolt tip guides. I couldn’t help but make these into a manicure together!! I started with two coats of Mentality Gumdrop which is a cheerful blue holo. Once dry, I used the lightening bolt tip guides at the tip and painted China Glaze Seeing Red on top. Then, I pulled off the tip guides. You can see that I had a little trouble with bleeding where the lightening bolt changes angles. I tried super hard to keep the guide flat on my nail, but it kept happening.

Lastly, I soaked the decals in water per the directions and applied them in the blue area. In general, I like how this mani turned out, but I wish the red line was a lot crisper. It looks the best on my two middle fingers. (And of course my thumb which I don’t show in pictures! LOL!)

Born Pretty Store Butterfly Wing Rhinestone Nail Studs Review

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store sent me these Butterfly Wing Rhinestone studs to review for you! I started with two coats of Sally Hansen At First Blush. Then, I used Sally Hansen Yellow Gold to stamp a design from this Cici&Sisi set. Then, I used top coat to adhere the rhinestone studs to my nails. I was going to use a dab of nail glue, but it’d been so long since I used it that it was all dried up!

Orly Breast Cancer Awarenes Mani

When I was at Sally Beauty a few weeks ago, Orly had a Breast Cancer Awareness display up. One of the polishes really caught my eye. It’s Orly Oh Cabana Boy. Now this polish is a repromote from another collection, but I couldn’t help but get it. It’s a gorgeous hot pink with a blue duochrome feel. In fact, it looks like a pretty good dupe to Julep Laree which I recently destashed, otherwise I would do a side-by-side for you. I’m so glad I picked this one up!

To me, this pink says, “Hey! I’m a girly girl and I love to party!” It’s very fun and goes beyond just a normal hot pink polish. You can find Orly Oh Cabana Boy on Amazon starting at $6.25.

Halloween Nail Art – Sweater Weather

I’ve been waiting and waiting for Fall to get here so I could use my Vivid Lacquer plate VL025 which has a ton of cute sweater patterns on it! I started with two coats of Pistol Polish Fire Away which is a brownish orange crelly. Then, I used Bundle Monster Black to stamp the design on top. Lastly, no sweater is complete without buttons! I have a lot of rhinestones left from my press sample from the Born Pretty Store! I originally reviewed the nail art studs for you here.

Born Pretty Nail Art Studs Review

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store was kind enough to let me pick some nail art items for review from their shop. One of the items I picked was this set of nail art studs. I don’t use studs all that much so I thought it would be a fun experiment to see how they worked for a ‘studs beginner’. I was really drawn to the stars. There is just something about stars that I love in nail art!!

I started with two coats of Mentality Asphalt (which I also originally received as a press sample). Then I applied a top coat and right away (per nail) placed a star stud. After each nail was done, then I went an applied another layer of top coat to seal in the stud. If you really want the studs to last, you’re going to need to use nail glue. I change my mani every day so I did not want or need that kind of lasting power.

Born Pretty Store Nail Decal Review

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store was kind enough to send me some products of my choosing to review for you! In addition to a stamping plate and some studs, I picked these nail art stickers. They are called the Rose Red Bloomy Stickers but they look very Hawaiian to me!

Born-Pretty-Store-Nail-Stickers

The instructions are easy to follow and are the same as every other nail sticker I have tried. This is a really good thing because wouldn’t it be a pain if they all had different instructions???

BPS-Decals-review

I really wanted the pink to pop so I started with two coats of Mentality Spackle which is a white matte polish.

Born-Pretty-Store-Flower-Decals

I absolutely love how these turned out. I think the look is beautiful and it was so, so easy to do. There are a ton of bloggers who could freehand something like this, but I will never be one of them. I can hardly draw stick figures. These nail stickers give us non-artistic people a way to still have gorgeous flowers on our nails! Some people might consider it cheating, but as the saying goes, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’!” And I’m tryin’! I’m tryin! :)

BPS-Flower-Decals

You can see a tiny spot where I didn’t get the decal to lay flat. I blame the UPS delivery man. I was waiting for a package so every time my dogs barked, I ran to the door to see if it was him. LOL. (It wasn’t) I finished this with a top coat and I’m happy to report that it didn’t smear the decal’s color. I have used decals from another brand and it always smeared. I thought it was me being an idiot! As it turns out, it was those other decals. I’m happy to report that with the Born Pretty Store decals, you can top coat safely!

Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate Review

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store was nice enough to send me a stamping plate of my choosing for review. I chose Qgirl plate 016. I think I was drawn to the flowers! (The Mentality polishes used in this post are also a press sample.)

BPS-Stamping-Plate-Review

For this mani, I started with two coats of Mentality Loess and used Mentality Asphalt to stamp. The images transferred very well! The images are etched very well. Sometimes I accidentally smear an image if there is a lot of area that needs polish, such as the inside of the stars. I found that these were deep enough to hold enough polish, but not so deep that the image was flooded. It’s a happy medium.
