This month, I splurged and upgraded to the whole collection. I just couldn’t pick between the different maven profiles! So I guess that means I needed them all. :P
I received 12 colors, 2 of whom were dupes. I also received the new Oxgen Nail Treatment and the Freedom Polymer Topcoat. All of this came in a gorgeous jewelry box. They also included a surprise eyelash curler and two chocolate hearts.
This is the surprise eyelash curler Julep included. It looks like it will be a great one for travel!
Oxygen Nail Treatment. Claims to increase nail strength and reduce peeling. It says to apply 1-2 times per week and for best results to not use with any polish. (Omg! Will I be able to go bare??)
Freedom Polymer Top Coat. Claims to go on like a polish and perform like a gel. Instructions say to apply one coat over dry polish. So does that mean I should apply it after Seche Vite or instead of? I guess I’ll have to experiment! It says to cure under a 60-watt bulb for two minutes.
From Left to Right (for all pics)
Oscar (Duplicate. This was in last year’s maven boxes), Laura (green/gray creme), Marion (Blue shimmer)
Julianne (Creme blue/gray), Joan (Purpler shimmer), Helen (Creme purple)
Ellie (Duplicate from last box. Metallic formula, which I am not impressed with), Ginger (Purple/Gray Shimmer), Sally (Creme Yellow)
Ingrid (Creme orange), Claudette (Creme red), Rebel (Silver Shimmer)
Obviously, you can look forward to many swatches in the days to come!
This is Julep Marisa and it’s a beautiful, shimmery blue. This is two coats.
This gem is from the China Glaze Bohemian Collection. It changes from gold to green to blue. Blue was the one that was impossible to catch on camera! This is three coats.
For this mani, I used scotchtape for a patchwork effect. Polishes used were Sally Hansen Pink Boa, Sally Hansen Plum Power, and Julep Carly.
I used two coats of Pink Boa and one coat of the other two.It would look better if Carly was a little more opaque.
Harvest Moon is from last year’s Hunger Games collection. It’s a beautiful copper color that is very shiny. This is two coats.
I love Julep. You probably know that by now since the vast majority of my posts are Julep swatches. However, I hate Maya. This polish is terrible! The color is fantastic, but the application and durability of it is laughable. It’s terribly streaky when it’s going on and then it peels off in big chunks no matter what base coat I use! It’s really unfortunate! I think I’m just going to throw the bottle away since I can’t see myself using it again. It’s really sad because it could be such a great neautral!
Double post day!
I am very pleased with this month’s Starlooks Starbox. I’ve only been a subscriber for a few months now and I’m already loving it. This is different from other subscription services because all the products are the Starlooks brand. Also, I haven’t received any skin care items yet which is awesome. I don’t like receiving skincare samples because my skin is so sensitive that most don’t work for me.
This month, we got two eyeliners (each from a different line within the company), a blush, a brush, a bracelet, and the crystal. (They include at least one crystal every month so you can collect them.)
This bracelet is by Abby Rose Designs. I think it is very pretty and it’s awesome they included it!
The diamond line pencil I received was in the color “Fancy”. It’s a glittery light green (swatch below). It goes on very smoothly and I can’t wait to try it tomorrow!
The regular eyeliner I received was in brown. (Swatch below). This one also goes on very smoothly.
The blush compact is in the color “Cuty Peach”. At first I was nervous about the pink-ness and brightness of the blush, but you’ll see in the swatch below it is very light and natural looking. It’s going to look great on my fair skin tone!
Top: Cuty Peach
Lastly, we received a small brush. The bristle are very soft and it feels very high quality.
I have nothing bad to say about this month’s box! I’m excited to try everything this weekend!!
This is one of my favorite polishes. It’s China Glaze Want My Bawdy from the Bohemian Collection. It transitions from purple to cobalt. I tried to capture both effects on camera. :)
Get Carried Away is the second (and last) polish I got from the China Glaze Cirque du Soleil. It’s a black jelly with big, fun glitters. Next time I wear this, I plan on putting a black solid polish underneath it so you can’t see my nails! This is three coats.
I got this idea from one of the many beautiful manicures from Chloe’s Nails. I used Orly Fantasea which is a gorgeous holo that goes from pink to purple to gold. Then, I taped it off and used ManGlaze #Matte is Murder. It got smudged a little bit since I couldn’t use a top coat, else ruin the matte effect. But I still like it! Hope you do too. Enjoy!
Sandra was from a previous Julep Maven box and she is one of my favorite colors in my collection. She’s a bright pink with subtle shimmers.
As soon as I put this on, it instantly become one of my favorite red in my quickly growing collection! The name describes this color perfectly. It does look exactly like a Blood Mary! It’s a deep tomato red. It was opaque in one coat but I did two out of habit. It’s creamy and wonderful!
I got Nailtini Frappe in the January 2013 Ipsy MyGlam Bag. From the name, I thought it would be a little more light brown in tone, but it is really an off-white milky color. It reminds me a lot of Julep Jennifer. It’s a great base for a natural nail or a classic french mani.
I went into Sally Beauty today and guess what collection was buy one, get one free?! That’s right, the China Glaze Cirque du Soleil collection! So I picked up Running in Circles and Get Carried Away.
Running in Circles is a wonderful green shimmer that is very eye-catching. It went on easily with two coats. This will be a great color for Christmas manicures as well as some in the spring–especially St. Patrick’s Day! I can’t tell you how much I’m loving this polish!
Julep Ellie is one of my favorite subtle polishes. She has glimpses of nude, green, and pink. It’s very challenging to photograph, but I hope you get the idea!
