Blue and Brown Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of Zoya Yummy which I’ve had for years and is still one of my favorite blues. I stamped using Mundo de Unas Caramel with a design from Pueen Plate 85.

That’s not smudging you see on my middle finger….I accidentally stamped that finger twice!!! Oopsies!!! Lol! Has that ever happened to you? I’m actually a little impressed with myself for how closely it lined up with itself. Apparently, I need to watch a little less Doctor Who when doing nail art and watch my nails a little more!!

Here is a plain swatch of Zoya Yummy so you can see what a pretty blue it is. I have used it a number of times for sky in different nail art designs. It’s the perfect shade of blue for any season, really. My mother in law gave it to me in March 2012 after I’d had major surgery. It was one of my first Zoyas!

Double Stamping Modern Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

This is the first double stamping mani I’ve done that I wasn’t embarrassed to show you! I started with two coats of Enchanted Polish Paint it Black. This is certainly a high quality black creme but you could use any of your favorite black polishes for this look. Then, I used Sally Hansen Sterling Silver and Titanium Flush which are both from last year’s color foils collection. I used my firm Konad stamper for these ones since that’s the only stamper that I can get to pick up these polishes. The design is from Pueen Plate 77.

Here is a plain swatch of Enchanted Polish Paint it Black. It went on quite smoothly.

And here’s my design! I have some smudging on my pointer finger. I feel like that’s the finger that always gets smudges. I’m going to have to have a firm talking to that finger to see why it’s always misbehaving.

I like how it looks like fun doodles…but in a controlled way. Yes, I was the kid that only colored in the lines!!

I took a picture before I did the double stamping just in case it looked horrid.  Again, you can see my pointed finger is being a jerk.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Brown Lattice Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Link}

For this mani, I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Regal which is from the new Velvet Texture collection. I stamped using Mundo de Unas Pinon stamping polish. The design is from Cici&Sisi Plate 05mundo-de-unas-pinon

Fancy French Tips

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s nail art is a twist on a classic look. I read somewhere that the ‘french’ manicure was actually started in California and the guy called it ‘french’ so that it sounded fancier. He needed a mani that would go well with all costume changes for actresses. If memory serves, I read this in one of the recent issues if Mental Floss magazine. I also read that high heels were originally invented for men so it was easier to ride horses. And then women Bogarted the look. Yay, us!

This french mani starts with two coats of Essence Pearls are a Girl’s Best Friend which is from the awesome Aquatix collection. I used Konad White a design from Pueen 75 to stamp on top. One of my goals for 2015 is to do a little more than just stamping for my nail art, so once this dried, I taped off the tips and used OPI Alpine Snow. I think the essence and the OPI are perfect french tip colors and the stamping adds a little flair and uniqueness.

Stamping Over Texture with Sally Hansen Velvet Texture

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I picked up a few Sally Hansen Velvet Texture polishes from the drugstore a few weeks ago. These are some very lovely mildly textured polishes. This is two coats of Sally Hansen Velveteen stamped with Sally Hansen Presto Pink. The design is from Pueen plate 76. I can’t get enough of pink and black together!

I did not use a top coat for this because it would have totally ruined the the velvet effect! I’m pretty happy with how this turned out even if the design does remind me a little of a grandmas couch! :P

Thanks for stopping by today! I really appreciate every visit and every comment! Have a happy day!

Plaid Stamping Mani

{Purchased By Me}

Today’s mani is not one of my favorites. I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Chic which is from the Patent Gloss collection. Then, I used Mundo de Unas Velvet as my stamping polish. The design is from Vivid Lacquer plate VL015. This is the first time I have not liked a design from VL.  I think it’s a little too messy looking. (And after 10 nails, I know it’s not me.) Also, I think the squares and lines are too big.  I would have loved to double-stamp this design so it looked even more like plaid, but when I double-stamped, it just completely covered up the lavender color.  Another thing I don’t like about this mani is the color combo. I’m really just not feeling it! Good thing I stockpile acetone!!!

Born Pretty Store Plate 20 Review

{Press Sample}

I was sent Born Pretty Store Plate 20 to show you some of the designs and to review for you! I picked this plate because I was drawn to the beautiful flower designs. You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates

Mixed Flower Nail Art Stamp Template Image Plate BORN PRETTY 20

This first mani starts with the mixed flowers design. The base color is FingerPaints Wild Bikini and the stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Velvet. I had some smudging but I think that was in my application because the design was clear on the stamper. I got quite a few compliments on it when I wore this to work! Two-tone manicures seem to be pretty popular.

This mani starts with two coats of Glisten&Glow Boylston Street and the stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Red Wine.

This mani starts with two coats of Glisten&Glow Rebecca vs Diane and the stamping polish is Konad Black. This was another one that got a ton of compliments! The almost stained-glass like flower design was really popular.

I have very pleased with this stamping plate! The images transferred well and there is a nice variety of floral designs to pick from! It does take a long time for shipping  from the BPS but keep in mind that they are shipping from China and international shipping always takes a long time. For the price of these plates, I feel like we’re really getting a good deal.

Thanks again to BPS for sending me these to review! You can find these supplies and more in the nail art section of the Born Pretty Store. Use code FYL91 to receive 10% off all your supplies at

Konad Black vs Mundo de Unas Black – The Winner May Surprise You

{Purchased By Me}

If you have been in the stamping community for any length of time at all, you’ve heard of both Konad and Mundo de Unas (MDU). MDU is frequently touted as one of the best stamping polishes you can get your hands on. I have been a pretty faithful Konad user, so I thought I would do a side-by-side comparison of the two. I picked a design that had both thin lines and thick areas. I used the same stamper (Messy Mansion Firm) for both polishes. I cleaned both the plate and the stamper in between each use.

Can you figure out which two nails have Konad and which two nails have MDU on them??

Two Tone Green Stamping

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet which is an awesome mint creme. I purchased what I thought was Konad Black on Amazon but it turned out to be Konad Gold Black which reads more like a dark green. I decided to pair the greens together to create a green two-tone stamping mani. The design is from Pueen Plate 81. Unfortunately, the stamping smeared a little when I put topcoat on which made me pretty sad.

Here is a plain swatch of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet which went on very smoothly and self-leveled quite nicely.

Color Club Miss Bliss Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}{Press Sample}

Today’s mani is part of the Crumpet’s 52-week pick and mix challenge. The prompts for this week are Film and Holo. This mani is just addressing the holo portion of the prompts.  I grabbed Color Club Miss Bliss. To this day, the Color Club Halo Hues are some of my favorite holos of all time. I used Mentality Grey Opaque to stamp which was given to me as a gift from Mentality.  The design is from Pueen Plate 81.

I liked wearing this mani because the stamping was so subtle. Sometimes it’s nice to have nail art that’s just for me and not for the person across the room! :)

Here is a plain swatch of Color Club Miss Biss without and then with flash. See how beautiful this is?? And it’s easy to find on Amazon! Woo Hoo! This first pic is in a light box.

This is in natural light with a flash from my camera. This is really what you see in sunlight. It’s quite stunning!

Gradient with Leopard Print Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I didn’t mean for this mani to look so much like leopard print. The design in the plate wasn’t supposed to be leopard print, but once it’s on the nails, that’s what it looks like! I started with two coats of Essie No Baggage Please which is a super light pink. Then, I used a makeup sponge to gradient Essie The Girls Are Out on to the tips. Finally, I used Mundo de Unas Taupe and a design from Pueen plate 81 to stamp the design.

I hope you enjoyed my accidental leopard print nail art! I know it was fun to wear, that’s for sure! Plus, these Essie’s didn’t see the light of day at all in 2014. According to my spreadsheet, I hadn’t used either of them since the middle of 2013!! Poor, neglected polishes!!

Black and Red Gradient with Stamping

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

It’s been a long time since I did a gradient so I thought it was high time to do one! I started with two coats of OPI From A to Pizzazz, which I got at TJ Maxx so I’m pretty sure that’s not the real name. I used OPI Queen of the Road which is from their 2014 Mustang Collection. I used Konad Black to stamp the design from Pueen 74.

I’m starting to get a reputation at work for always having nail art. On Monday, I just had regular polish on (FingerPaints Hey Mr DJ) and it was like I’d let everyone down! LOL! It’s super funny to me. Trying to explain stamping to someone who has no idea what it is completely blows their minds. A lot of people think I freehand these designs. Yeah, I wish! I’ve posted some freehand work on this blog in 2014 and it was not pretty!

Betty’s First MDU Stamping Polish

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I finally jumped on the Mundo de Unas wagon! I had been avoiding it for a long time because these polishes are from Mexico and take forever to get to the states! I ordered on December 4th and assumed I wouldn’t see any polish until the new year. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived on December 23rd. That is still a long wait, but not as long as I was expecting!

For this mani, I started with two coats of December 2014. I used MDU Red Wine and a design from the pink Cici&Sisi set.

My first impression is that yes, this polish stamps quite well. It is very thick and plays well with both squishy and firm stampers. In fact, you can’t even really tell a difference. I used squishy on the fingers to your left and firm on the fingers to your right. To me, they look the same crispness so that’s good news! Sounds like you can use whatever stamper you prefer!

One downside is the smell of this polish. It totally reeks. It doesn’t smell like polish, it smells like craft paint. Maybe it is craft paint?? LOL. It has the texture and thickness of paint!

Black and Red Stamping Mani

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Today’s mani starts with two coats of OPI Just Shocking! which I got at TJ Maxx. I’m sure that this isn’t the original name. TJ Maxx OPI polishes are known for being renamed. If anyone knows what this beauty really is, please let me know! It’s a dark pink shimmer. This is two coats.

I picked this design from Pueen Plate 79 and used my new Mundo de Unas black stamping polish. Be warned about MDU: They totally reek. They smell of acrylic craft paint. Perhaps that’s what they are made of…but I just wanted to warn you! Once on the nails and topcoated, the smell goes away, but when you’re working, it’s definitely pungent.

This mani is for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 52-week pick and mix challenge. One of this week’s prompts is ‘dots’. I know that a lot of girls are probably going to do dotticures, but since I’m totally addicted to stamping lately, I decided to bend the rule a bit and do a design that has dots in it.

Here is a plain swatch of OPI Just Shocking. It’s super pretty; I just wish I knew the real name!

Lace Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Hello! I hope you’re doing awesome today! For this mani, I started with three coats of Superchic Lacquer Witches Agenda for Uberness. Then, I used Vivid Lacquer Plate VL 032 which has gorgeous lace and flower designs on it. I used Konad White as my stamping polish. I’m really happy with how this one turned out. The lines are nice and crisp. Even the fully colored in flower looks nice. There is a tiny bit of smudging near my tip on the accent nail, but I’m hoping you won’t notice…

I’m really looking forward to this next week. I only have to work one day which means I’ll have lots and lots of time to get ahead on manicures! I might even try to do another watermarble…we’ll see where the wind takes me!

Holiday Argyle Stamping

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Merry Christmas!! For this mani, I started with three coats of Pretty Serious Glitz & Glam. Pretty Serious is quickly becoming one of my favorite indie brands. Then, I used Vivid Lacquer plate 010 for its super fun argyle design. My stamping polish was Konad Red. There is just something about red and gold that screams ‘holidays’ to me. And if it’s not screaming that, it’s screaming ‘high school’ because red and gold were also my high school colors!

I wish you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas from my keyboard to yours.

This is Kirby! Lena’s in the background waiting for food to drop on the ground, and then she’ll pounce!

Night Before Christmas Poem – For Polish Lovers

{Purchased By Me}{Press Sample}

A Visit from the Mailman

By Anne Smith of Betty’s Beauty Bombs

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The polish was put in the helmer with care,
In hopes that more top coat soon would be there;
The cremes were all nestled in the top of the drawer;
While visions of stamping made their dreams soar.
And hubby in his sweats and me in my jammies,
Had just settled in for video games and mani’s.
When out on the porch there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Carefully opened the shutters and moved the sash.
The light was shining off the pouring down rain,
Showing me a smudged mani; I cried in pain!
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a late-coming mailman and packages so dear,
With a delivery man carrying packages quite smallish,
I knew in a moment it must be more polish.
More rapid than eagles my heart did soar,
And I whistled, and shouted, and called out some more:
“Here, Holo! now, Jelly! now Glitter and Texture!
On, Creamy! on, Shimmer! on, Topper and Mixtures!
On top of my pinkie! On top of them all!
Now dry real fast! dry real fast! Dry real fast, all!!”
Items used: Pretty Serious Red Carpet Treatment, Mentality Green Opaque (which was sent to me as a gift from Mentality), and Cici&Sisi Holiday 2014 Stamping Plate.

Enchanted Polish December 2014 Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

For this nail art, I started with two coats of Enchanted Polish December 2014. Then, I used Konad White and a design from Cici&Sisi Set one to create the look. It kinda looks like a chain link fence to me, but in a feminine way…

I’m pretty excited for tomorrow. Not only do I get a bunch of days off work, but I get to go meet my brand new niece! She was born yesterday morning. I’m so excited! I told my sister that this baby girl better like nail polish and makeup! :P

My husband wanted me to show you his hand poses as well. He left a bunch of pictures on my computer one day while I was out to lunch with some girlfriends. He’s such a goof!

Happy Holidays!

Crosshatch Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

I was sent this beautiful Mango Bunny Polish Faithful Student to swatch for you and I just couldn’t help but do a pattern on top! The design is from this Cici&Sisi stamping plate. I used Konad white as my stamping polish.

Northern Star Reindeer Games

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

Northern Star Reindeer Games was one of the four polishes in the December 2014 beauty quartet box. This is my first Northern Star polish and the formula is fantastic! Reindeer Games is a brown holo. I did two coats for this look.  I used the Cici&Sisi Christmas Plate and Konad White to do the stamping nail art. I’ve been obsessed with snowflakes this season. Sorry if you’re getting sick of them! I just think snowflakes look awesome on top of pretty much every color. Plus, they’re a great way to be seasonal and festive without having to commit to a certain holiday.

Sally Hansen Velvet Texture Nail art

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

For this mani, I started with Sally Hansen Crushed which is from their new, limited edition, velvet texture collection. This dries super fast and into a cool matte finish which makes it perfect for nail art. I used a design from this Cici&Sisi stamping plate set and used Konad Black as my stamping polish. I know it’s not a very seasonal design, but I don’t want to flood your eyes with snowflakes. LOL. It’s not winter in all parts of the world, so this mani is for the southern hemisphere folks! Or for folks in the northern hemisphere that wish they were in the southern!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I know this time of year is super busy for everyone. The fact that you’d make time for little ol’ me gives me the warm fuzzies.

Girly Swirls Nail Art featuring Enchanted Polish September 2014

{Purchased By Me}{Affiliate Links}

I’m totally in love with today’s mani.  I would love to wear pink and black for the rest of my life… Well, ok, probably not. That would get boring, but it certainly is my favorite color combination!

This pink is Enchanted Polish September 2014. The design is from this Cici&Sisi stamping plate collection and I simple used Konad black to stamp the design.

I can’t  decide if these look like swirls or some sort of artsy tulip!

Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate Review: BP-11

{Press Sample}

The Born Pretty Store sent me this stamping plate to review for you! You can see all their available image plates here: BornPrettyStore Stamping Image Plates

I picked this one because I was attracted to the fun, full-nail designs. Here is an image of the plate next to a quarter so you can see the relative sized of the plate and the images. As you can see, the images are quite large and should fit on most nails. The great thing about these images is that they will also work for many short nails as well.

For this one, I started with three coats of Digital Nails Special Snowflake. I used Konad Black as my stamper. I think my stamper was acting up during this mani. My pinkie looks great, but the others look a little smudged. Do you ever have days where you feel like you’ve kinda forgotten how to do any nail art right? That’s what was happening this day. I think the plate is great, I was just being a weirdo.

For this one, I used Enchanted Polish Holiday 2014 and Konad Red to stamp the star design. You can see I had a little trouble with the pinkie, which is the finger I did first. But, after that, it was easy going!

For this one, I used Enchanted Polish November 2014 as my base and Konad White to stamp. I was really curious to see how the heart design would do since images that use a lot of polish can be tricky. As you can see, it stamped beautifully!!!! I’m super happy with the heart design in particular. I think it’s my favorite from the plate and I’ll be using it in some Valentine’s Day mani’s next year!

Thanks again to BPS for sending me these to review! You can find these supplies and more in the nail art section of the Born Pretty Store. Use code FYL91 to receive 10% off all your supplies at

Christmas Sweater (?) Nail Art

{Purchased By Me}

This mani is a twist on the traditional Christmas sweater – both with the colors and the pattern!! I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Plush which is from their new velvet textures collection. Then, I used a design from Vivid Lacquer plate VL 035 which is full of sweater designs. I don’t know if this counts as Christmas sweater nail art…if anything, it’s Halloween or Valentine’s Day! But here it is and you get to see it today. I stamped with Sally Hansen Rapid Red from their Insta-Dri line. I love stamping with SH Insta-Dris because they are easy to find and quite reliable in their performance.

Raindrops Nail Art

{Press Sample}{Affiliate Links}

This mani starts with two coats of Mango Bunny Polish  Midnight Bunny, which I originally received as a press sample. Then, I used Konad White to stamp this raindrops design from Vivid Lacquer Plate VL006. I love the rain, which is one of the many reasons why I love living in the Pacific North West.

I like how I can see the star glitters from Midnight Bunny poking through!!! It’s like it’s raining on a starry night. Have you ever seen a rainstorm happen when it’s still sunny? (Yes, that happens!) Well, this must be the night version of it!
