Ily Cosmetics sent me six of her polishes to swatch and review for you! This is a new-to-me indie brand so I was very excited to try these out. I got even more excited when I saw the gorgeous swatches on her Instagram feed!
First up is Ily Cosmetics Daydreamer swatched over Sally Hansen Fuchsia Power. There is a ton of glitter in this base so you don’t even need to fish them out! They’re practically jumping out of the bottle! Also, I don’t know what base Ily Cosmetics uses but these glitters are very resistant to sinking. They were on my desk for a few days before I had time to swatch them and there was little to no sinking! This applies to all of the polishes swatched in this post!!
Ily Cosmetics Tribal is a very unique glitter; I’ve never seen anything quite like it! I have it swatched here over Revlon Totally Toffee.
Ily Cosmetics Candy Fairy is a white crelly with medium, pastel glitters. This built up quite nicely in three coats and when I had lunch with a polish-loving friend, she was pretty jealous! (Hi, Ed!)
Ily Cosmetics Starmalade was the one I was most excited to try and it did not disappoint! I’m a huge sucker for star glitters (so obviously this whole collection is awesome, IMHO. It has stars galore!) This is a hot pink jelly with shimmers and neon star glitters. It took four coats to build this one up, but it was totally worth it. I love everything about the look of Starmalade!
Ily Cosmetics Flying Colors is packed full of neon hexes in varying sizes. This one is really fun to look at! I have to state again how impressed I am that I didn’t need to fish for glitters or stroke their egos at all to get them to come out of the bottle. I want confident glitters that aren’t afraid to bare all. None of this shy glitter BS for me! :P
Ily Cosmetics Unicorn Dreams is another white crelly with pastel glitters. I love the name of this one because it fits the polish so perfectly! It has stars and moons! It’s just too cute! Remember earlier when I said I want a confident glitter? Oh man, these guys would not get outta my face! I had to anti-fish* them!
(*Definition: anti-fishing: The act of putting glitters back in the bottle because too many are coming out. Antonym: fishing: the act of trying desperately to coax glitter out of a bottle of polish but really it’s a selfish asshole that wants to stay in there and never see the world.)
I would highly recommend checking out Ily Cosmetics, especially if you’re lazy like I am and despise fishing for glitters.
